Ministers promised a “Green Brexit in which environmental standard are not only maintained but enhanced”
Today #EnvironmentBill back in Commons - yet falls *far* short of maintaining existing standards, never mind enhancing them
Yet more greenwash...

Shellfish co lays off 50 oyster fishers because Defra hasn’t even created the form that allows them to export to EU after Brexit.
The form will be ready in April but the shellfish season ends March 30 and doesn’t start again until Nov.

Do we really have a free trade agreement with the EU? Yes. But then UK government rules mean it isn't free at all!

No. This is dangerous misinformation - and extremely negligent based on the current evidence & where we are in the UK pandemic. We need protections in place even after vaccination - to say otherwise puts lives at risk.

Finally, this artwork is about the handing out of Government contracts like Test and Trace. #serco #testandtrace
So very, very true. That is what it comes down to.

You can bang on about global Britain. You can pretend Boris Johnson is some kind of liberal. But when it comes down to it, it's the same old Brexit it was in the 2016 campaign: hatred of immigration.

Interesting that the rollout of the vaccine is going so well when test and trace went so badly. It’s almost like if you let the NHS get on & do the job and don’t handout contracts to private companies that your mates run that things get done properly. Who knew.
Great site. And a single place to point nonsense-spouting lockdown dissenters.
This new website rebuts the most common myths about Covid - and examines the track record of the activists & journalists who are pushing those myths.

It's true @BorisJohnson that today's is a significant milestone with the UK taking up the position of worst daily COVID-19 mortality rate in the entire world at 16.54 deaths/million.
Can I humbly point out that a man of conscience, having lead the country to this, would resign?

I recently finished a case where the defendant was police bailed, then “released under investigation”, then court bailed for:
3 years,
2 months,
29 days.
Aged 18 when accused.
Aged 22 when acquitted.
Covid didn’t start the backlog.
*Cuts* did. bbc.com/news/uk-55712106
This is appalling. It's inhumane and a gross violation human rights: effectively a disease-ridden concentration camp with inmates in mortal fear for their lives. In England.

Yet another reason why herd immunity won't work and why vaccinations, though vital, are not a silver bullet.
Preliminary data from South Africa suggests that the novel variant 501.V2 wasn't recognised by antibodies in 21/44 serum samples collected from people infected in the first wave - worth watching today's presentation for more info & caveats youtube.com/watch?v=Ja_tLG8C…

Mark Drakeford defends decision to delay deployment of Pfizer vaccine supplies on #r4today: "There would be no point and certainly it would be logistically damaging to use up all our vaccines in the first week and have our vaccinators standing around with nothing to do."
Covid-19 caused more deaths than anything else in November and December 2020. That really is pretty sobering.
We’ve published our monthly mortality analysis data for December 2020.
#COVID19 was the leading cause of death for the month, accounting for
▪️ 20.8% of all deaths in England
▪️ 27.4% of all deaths in Wales
