Hey friends,
Wewanted to update everyone on Freya’s health. Earlier this week after multiple vet and oncologist visits we found out Freya has lymphoma.
She’s been given a timeline of 6-8 weeks left with us.
I’m a big believer that as animal people the hardest but most important decision we can choose is putting our pets happiness first rather than trying to force them to be miserable and stay around for our own sake.
So this is our plan:
Our only priority in the world is giving this incredible pup the best life every single day we’re lucky to have with her. I’ll still post shows, writeups, recaps and bets, all the usual stuff, but just know that for the next bit of time this is going to be mostly a Freya page!
As much as Freya is “‘my dog”, I’ve always thought of her as this community’s puppy. She’s brought joy to so many of us, has hit a weird amount of bets, and has helped raise tens of thousands of dollars for animal shelters along the way.
I want to thank everyone for all the love you’ve given our little family over the years, and we’re beyond grateful we’ve been able to share our life with you all.
We’re going to spend the next couple months kicking life’s ass, eating steaks, chomping down pup cups, chasing squirrels, and sharing those moments with all of you, our family.
Give your pets an extra hug for us tonight, and let’s live every day like Freya would want us too! 💪

My 17-year-old son was in a horrific accident on Monday. He was ejected from the vehicle, and we have been at Hamilton General ever since.
He has a fractured neck, a broken shoulder, broken ribs, broken elbow, broken collar bone and multiple other injuries.
And yet, since yesterday afternoon, my injured 17-year-old child has been left in a hospital hallway, under the brightest lights, with no privacy, no proper place to rest, and very little relief.
I understand our hospitals are overwhelmed. I understand our healthcare workers are stretched beyond their limits. This is not an attack on the nurses and doctors who are doing everything they can.
This is about a system that is failing both its patients AND its healthcare workers.
How have we gotten to the point where a child with a fractured neck and multiple traumatic injuries is left lying in a hallway?
And I don’t even want to make this about me, because I would sit beside my son on the floor for the rest of my life if that’s what he needed. But one week ago today, I finished 38 rounds of chemo. I’ve now spent days sitting in a hard chair beside him, running on fear, adrenaline and exhaustion, with no relief in sight.
Something has to change.
We work. We pay taxes. We pay into benefits. We do everything we’re supposed to do — and when our families desperately need help, where is it?
This isn’t acceptable healthcare.
This isn’t compassion.
And this isn’t something we should just learn to tolerate because “there aren’t enough beds.”
There aren’t enough beds. There aren’t enough resources. There aren’t enough supports. And our families and healthcare workers are paying the price.
We need change. We need accountability. And we need it NOW.
Because no parent should have to watch their seriously injured child recover in a hospital hallway.

It's the old story of the hotel guest in a small town. Paid $20 for a room and went to get dinner before going to the room. The hotel operator owed the baker $20 so he took the cash and paid her. She owed the hair dresser $20, paid it. Hair dresser owed the florist $20 and paid it. Florist owed the hotelier $20 and so paid that debt. The guest returned from dinner, having made a phone call and discovering plans had changed. Since he had never even gone to the room, he requested a refund, which was cheerfully granted. In this story $100 of debt existed, which was all paid with $20, and that money left town in the same pocket it entered. Is there a flaw in that logic?
