I hate this nuzlocke culture of "but items are cheating/cheese" My Guy, the items exist to be used. It's okay if you do not want to use it in your SELF IMPOSED CHALLENGE but calling people playing the game and using the mechanics as dev intended is not cheating/cheese

The biggest takeaway from the HGSS discussion is that there's a massive disconnect between people who engage in ALL the cheese (prio healing/status removal via Potion/bag item spam, prio +6 stats via X items, etc) and people who correctly believe doing that is skill-less nonsense

This is another fixation that the fandom needs to let go off. Gen 2 was built as a sequel to Gen 1. It's built around it's relationship to Kanto and that includes sharing pokemon between them.

Johto's real problem isn't the level curve, it's the region's utter disdain for its own Pokémon. The Johto League doesn't make even a half-hearted attempt to prominently feature Johto Pokémon, and, for you, the player, the availability of many Johto Pokémon is terrible.

So I replayed vanilla HGSS this year and I swear, you literally have to be purposefully blind to disregard the weird level curve the game has. If you think it's a non issue then more power to you ig but like genuinely look at my teams.
