Yikes!
It was very good to be in Assisi for the 40th International Meeting for Peace yesterday. In the Papal Basilica of St Francis, we gathered for an ecumenical service of Christian prayer for peace in our world.
Then we joined other faith leaders and representatives for the closing ceremony, to renew our commitment to working together for peace. In a powerful video address, Pope Leo XIV urged us to continue to live ‘the spirit of Assisi’ that began with the first meeting convened 40 years ago by Pope John Paul II.
In the name of Jesus Christ the Prince of Peace, I join with the Pope in praying that we would each be ‘unarmed instruments of the Lord’s peace.’

Roman Catholic bishop says Vatican complicit in ‘invasion’ and ‘dechristianization’ of Europe
Pope Leo might want to have a few words with Bishop Schneider, but he would be better advised to ponder carefully what he says. The Roman Catholic Church sponsors services for migrants and so profits greatly from the migrant influx, but if what remains of Christian Europe is destroyed in the process, what good will all the Church’s money do?

Archbishop Sample says none of the political parties in this country embody all of Catholic Social Teaching.
But the Democrat party embodies ideas that are specifically ANTI-Catholic social teaching; pro-abortion, pro-euthanasia, anti-family & pro-LGBT.
When we start with our Catholic faith, it's not hard to see which party's political platforms are more in line with church teaching.

There has never been a genocide or famine in Gaza.
There is, however, a genocide of Christians being perpetrated by Islamic Extremists across Africa.

I was born an Anglican. Then I read Theology at Oxford with the idea of ordination. I therefore had to read the Bible several times over, in every conceivable direction. After that I had to read the Patristic Fathers, the Scholastics, the Reformers and the Tractarians, as well as Barth, Bonhoeffer and others.
So naturally I became a Catholic.

Then, I read the Holy Bible front to back three times.
Now, I am even more Catholic.

Unreal.
The court in Pakistan has just upheld the death sentence against a Christian man for "blasphemy".
Christians are the most persecuted religious group in the world.
Over 388 million Christians live under severe persecution worldwide.
And the media is largely silent.

Bishop Robert Barron has come out pushing back against Cardinal Jean-Paul Vesco of Algeria, who opined that “the Church is not there to convert” and that Christians should approach other religions through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.
Barron said that Jesus’ command to “make disciples of all nations” sounds like conversion to him.
“If I really thought that the Church does not exist to bring people to Christ, then I would resign and get an honest job,” Barron added.
