A pale yellow background with a pink and blue border. In the top right is the Guild of Students logo. Text reads:
"Being a trans ally: Tip 7. "How can I demonstrate I'm a trans ally?"
"Ally" is not a label you choose for yourself! It's a title that is given to you by the people you are supporting. You can't claim to be a trans ally, unless the trans people in your life feel supported by you.
Introduce yourself with pronouns, but don't pressure people to do the same. Gently correct names or pronouns. Be open to change, growth, and learning.
Give platform to trans activists and allies. Be kind in life, but energetic in activism.
Do:
Use pronoun badges
Introduce yourself with your pronouns
Listen to trans people
Platform trans activism
Don't:
Platform bigotry
Claim to be an ally, with no substance
Forget that everyone still has something to learn."

ALT A pale beige background with a pattern of leaves and flowers in various tones of brown and deep orange. A pale beige rectangle, with a scratchy brown outline, takes up most of the picture. At the top there is a bold orange title: “October & BHM events”. Underneath, there is a dark grey subtitle: “October ‘20. Black History Month”. Next to this there are two small logos, that of the LGBTQ+ Association and the black Guild of Students one. The rest of the square is taken up by the list of events and their descriptions. Please check description for a link to the full text, which does not fit here unfortunately.
