It’s exciting to see the developments in emerging pain treatments, especially for #ChronicPelvicPain. One budding area is medical #marijuana. In this video, @rblaprairie discusses the potential of #cannabis & the barriers we're facing in #Canada. bit.ly/2Z4lmi5

We need to correct anemia prior to elective hysterectomy/myomectomy. This is a patient safety issue.
1 in 4 Ontario women undergoing elective hysterectomy or fibroid removal are anemic, increasing risk of serious complications, but nearly half are not tested first: @ICESOntario @WCHospital @SinaiHealth @UofTSurgery study by @AllyMurji in @AJOG_thegray ajog.org/article/S0002-9378(…

Progesterone therapy inhibits menstruation and causes atrophy of #endometriosis lesions and works well for some - but not for all. So don’t tell those patients, for whom it doesn’t work, to “go away and assure them all will be well - it won’t” said @AProfAY at #AGESWESFM19 – at Melbourne, Victoria

Learn to regulate emotions (when needed)? Def can be done in simulation. I would even say SHOULD include sim in early learning so that can focus on recognizing emotions and practicing skills without taking away from patient care...then apply/transfer to clinical setting

WHO recognises chronic pain as a disease in its own right. Just because tests are normal does not mean a person does not have the *disease* of chronic pain. We need more services to help treat chronic pain - not just focussing on looking for another disease.
The @WHO has adopted ICD-11 including a new classification system for #chronicpain. This new classification system was based on extensive research and data collected over the last six years by an IASP task force. #ICD11 #StudyPain #News Read more: iasp-pain.org/PublicationsNe…
