This is a straight red card
How is that not a sending off, two straight years Stockport should’ve had a man sent off at home. Dirty cunts, granted they still would’ve beaten us with 10 men

Where did this game take place? It is a straight red
I might not be knowledgeable about football, but how's this not a red card ? 🤔

Too many cooks and lacking a Chief to give leadership and direction. No wonder some of our referees are not operating at their optimum
Sat 10: Referee makes a decision so obviously wrong that the VAR tells him to change it Thurs 14: Expert panel tells the FA that the VAR was obviously wrong Wed 20: Premier League says the VAR was obviously right and the ref was obviously wrong From now on: Confusion. Obviously

Thoughts with his family and friends RIP John
Today, our very own John Tompkins is finally laid to rest. 💙 Our thoughts and prayers are with John’s family and friends, as we remember someone who was sadly taken from our Wednesday family far too soon. From everyone at The Wednesday Voice, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for the time we had the privilege of working alongside you. It was an absolute pleasure. Your commitment to making a difference in our local community, your passion for getting Sheffield Wednesday back to being the club we all know and love, and your part in forming this group to ensure every fan has a voice will never be forgotten. John, your dedication to the Wednesday family and your determination to do good, right up until you could no longer do so, were truly inspiring. We promise to continue the work you cared so deeply about - standing up for our supporters, fighting for the future of our football club, and helping as many people as we can in our local community. Your legacy will live on through everything we do. Rest in peace, John. Thank you for everything. 🦉💙

Grant makes a very valuable and correct point. The 4th official is often occupied in dealing with occupants of the Technical area rather thansupporting the referee in the decision making process.
🗣️ “[The referee] needs more from his fourth official… When somebody stamps on someone, there’s no place in football for that” 📹 Doncaster Rovers boss Grant McCann on an incident involving Owen Bailey in the 2-0 defeat to Stockport. 🎧👉 bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/p0phq7… #DRFC

“He cannot do anything about it” That is not the response of a manager who clearly failed to prepare the team tactics.
He talks absolute gibberish snd his football is as insipid ad he is. This performance is not a surprise to anyone and more will follow under this guy. He has never been a manager #swfc

Great- no wonder our standards are declining. This broke the threshold for Serious Foul Play He is wrong in Law
Howard Webb the foul by Newcastle's Sven Botman's on Aston Villa's Nicolas Jackson was a "high-end reckless challenge". He backed the VAR's decision not to intervene for a red card on referee's call. NB: A reckless challenge is a yellow card. 👇 bbc.co.uk/sport/football/art…

Whilst I wish a speedy recovery for the player. The referee has determined that then challenge by the player who sustained a broken leg was serious foul play. That is why he received a red card. I have not seen the challenge to offer a personal view. I am clarifying why a red
😳🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Absolutely unbelievable scenes in League Two this weekend. Grimsby Town defender Edon Pruti suffered a DOUBLE LEG FRACTURE after a challenge on Northampton's Joe Wormleighton. Despite lying on the ground in agony with a broken tibia and fibula, the referee showed him a STRAIGHT RED CARD before he was stretchered off. 🗣️ Grimsby manager David Artell was furious: "I don't understand how someone can break their leg and get sent off." Wishing him a speedy recovery. 🙏❤️

100% agree with your assessment Ken
Im a Newcastle supporter - clear 100% yellow card for Joelinton a reckless lunge, Botman's foul a scissor like dangerous challenge which endangered the safety of an opponent a red card offence.

Well said David
He’s gone too high to win the ball, with speed and force. Hes cleaned the player out. Getting a touch on the ball is irrelevant if it’s with reckless contact. This is basics.

Great news Alan and congratulations to Emily Heaslip
Encouraging to read your comments on the referee at Hillsborough today in the wake of this thread. Emily Heaslip was previously a player at Watford in WS2 before deciding to concentrate on reffing. Agree she showed empathy with the game, kept it flowing & commanded respect 👏

@HACKETTREF Newcastle v Villa: Botman could have been sent off twice, both missed. #avfc
