I tried to redesign the Void Queen in my new art style. Was such a pain to do with ai that I genuinely no longer believe ai will take over creative roles when it keeps inventing mistakes.
Anyways, what do you all think is better?

People don't want original black characters?
That's just not true. Original concepts take time, work and consistency to catch on. Even Superman and Batman took decades to become part of the culture.
THIS is how you target women.
You make a game about things women actually enjoy.
You DO NOT take a game that was mainly made with men in mind, rip out the hot masculine protagonist, replace him with a woman who's jaw could crack diamonds with the body of a line backer, then make her act like a man.
I think we've proved that doesn't appeal to ANYONE.
Dressmaker developer Sabrina Becker says women are still an underserved audience in gaming.
“We were definitely targeting women from the get-go,” “Women are such an underserved market in video games, even though women love video games.”
The team saw how popular dress-up games are on platforms like Roblox and wanted to create a deeper experience for that audience.
It seems to have worked: Dressmaker has over 17,500 Steam reviews with a 98% positive rating, and still averages more than 15,000 concurrent players a month after launch.
The game has also attracted older players, with some reviewers saying it even brought back their love of sewing.

After forty years in front of the camera, I’ll be directing my first feature film, SO HELP ME GOD: a Civil War epic about a Union soldier named Albert Townsend, who should have received the Medal of Honor but didn’t.
Clerical error.
I learned of Albert through his descendants’ archival research. What I found was more than an injustice waiting to be corrected. It was a story of friendship and extraordinary courage: an unassuming young man becoming a soldier who held his ground, and his principles, under fire.
That’s a story worth telling on the largest possible scale. And we’re inviting the people who want to see it told to help bring it to the screen, as investors in the film through Republic.
We intend to do it justice: real cannons, one hundred horses, and the cast in period-accurate uniforms. We’ve brought on Mark Huffam, whose work includes Saving Private Ryan, Game of Thrones, and The Martian, to produce it. He knows what it takes to make an epic, and how much depends on the human story at its heart.
At the Medal of Honor Heritage Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee, I introduced the project alongside Civil War historian Brad Quinlin, members of the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, and representatives of Civil War Roundtables. We’re also supporting the campaign for Albert’s posthumous Medal of Honor. His descendants are still fighting to see his courage properly recognized.
This picture is about friendship, love, and honor — and common people rising to accomplish extraordinary things. I want to give that story everything it deserves.
I hope you will lift the banner with us.

My public letter about my opponent.
In one week Erin Farris-Olson (D) and myself (Dru Koester, L) will face off at the ballot box for who will represent Helena (district 41) in the Senate this upcoming session.
With this in mind, I would like to say this to my opponent:
Thank you for being decent.
Thank you for being professional.
It has been a positive experience to run against you.
When we enter these races, especially as political outsiders, we never know what to expect…. Politics can be contentious, ugly, and there is the incredible sensation in your gut that when you put your name on the ballot, you're really putting your neck on the line.
I've seen and experienced the ugly side of politics… So, going into the race, I had no idea who my opponent would be or what running was going to cost my family personally. I had no idea if it would hurt my business or my friends and relations. You can just never underestimate how ugly the fight will get.
And, while races at the national level and, even, some at the state level, have gotten nasty and onery, Erin and I have maintained our poise and dignity through this whole campaign. From the moment we met, there seemed to be an unspoken mutual agreement: this is about ideas, this is about policy, this is about politics. And it's not personal.
Yes, both of us believe we would do a better job than the other, neither of us is going to budge on our ideals or core principles, and we truly maintain that what we represent is better for the state and people of Montana than what the other is offering.
But that doesn't mean we're out for blood nor are we enemies.
We're competing, but the goal has always been victory, not decimation of our opponent.
You see, Erin and I are proof that you can disagree so starkly in politics that you are led to enter the ring to do battle and, while standing there, face to face, you both decide, “My ideas are solid enough to fight for me. I don't need to fling mud. I don't need to take cheap shots. My ideas can hold ground on their own."
We've sat beside each other at every forum, disagreeing often, agreeing sometimes, and have always been able to leave wishing the other the best of luck.
Why? Maybe it's because we're both moms and know that, at the end of the day, we both see the issues facing our children and have simply drawn very different conclusions of how we give them a bright future.
Maybe it's because we're the exact same age and are considered "youngsters" in politics (laughable.)
Or maybe it's because we're both Montanans, and know that we're neighbors who will run into each other at the grocery store, because, after all, Montana is still one big small town.
We would do better to remember that and understand that we don't have to compromise our beliefs in order to see the person who sits beside us on the ballot box as anything less than a human being, whose rights are inherent and not granted by a governing force.
That's how I view my opponent(s), and I'm always ready to express gratitude when the courtesy is returned.
Helena has a real, acute difference on the ballot this November 3rd. But they've been treated to a really professional race and, regardless of who wins, it should be acknowledged that Erin and I just showed the rest of the state how this is done. By keeping it classy.
Cheers,
Dru Koester
Libertarian Candidate for Senate District 41, Helena

To those who won raffles during the charity stream- anything that I have to ship will be shipped off this coming weekend!
Instead of being a whiney bitch, have you considered talking to Valve and seeing what you guys could do to make the platforms work together?
This honestly feels more like jealousy that you can't break through the market by just tossing out free games.
Things that make the people buying the games happy will nearly always create sales - and honestly? Your store front just sucks.
Replying to @kiaran_ritchie @SheriefFYI
Exactly this. Valve has held gaming back for years by locking developers’ PC games into Steamworks’ social walled garden where players can’t talk to other players on iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or even other PC stores.

You can use Steam Datagram Relay (and its servers) on any platform as long as your title ships on Steam.

Tonight was pumpkin carving night!
Can you guess which one's mine and which one was @Sheepsidian's?
So here's the thing.
Steam handles the storage of these games.
They also handle the security on the storage for these games.
Further, they handle distribution of the games - and the security around that.
And infrastructure for updates.
They also handle the payment processors, processing fee, and security around that.
Hell, the payment processor alone is worth AT LEAST 2.6 of that 30% could be up to 4.5 depending on the deal that gets worked out.
Then you also have the fact that they have an entire infrastructure for multi-player gaming, cloud saving, workshop for mods...
All of this is BEFORE you even account for audience access.
Or the things it also provides that help the devs connect to the customer, such as the game's page and forums that can be used.
The 30% covers ALL of that AND provides an audience.
Can you vibe code that? Sure. But you're still going to need people who provide and track security issues, which are a consistent and ever changing issue.
It's really not all that simple - more importantly, none of it is free.
Remember, you get what you pay for.
If someone wants to create a competitor, I completely encourage them to. Even the best only benefit when there is competition in the market.
I'm gonna spell this out because this issue is deceptively subtle:
1. The Steam client and infrastructure is somewhere between "not that hard" and "trivial". It's a download service attached to a payment processor with a smattering of services on the side. Cloud providers handle all the infrastructure these days.
2. Steam takes 30% of gross revenue; ostensibly for the privilege of using these services, but in reality it is purely to get access to the massive Steam userbase.
3. Steam users love Steam and having their whole library in one place. It works. It's dependable. It has sales and cards and achievements, oh my!
4. PC developers have no option but to distribute through Steam or lose the vast majority of sales. Not releasing on Steam destroys the business model.
5. Therefore, no amount of competition will ever unseat Steam. People post-hoc rationalize this with memes about how gracious Gabe is. And how brilliant their services are. But realistically, no avid Steam user wants other stores to succeed.
The mere existence of other stores risks splintering their precious collection. They are "all in" on Steam. Invested.
Even if an alternative were objectively better, by whatever metric you care about, it would still be of no interest to Steam users. They would in fact find it to be a problem and a threat to their investment.
Competition in this space is not only uninteresting to most Steam users, it's actively denigrated!
The CONSEQUENCE of this situation, is that 30% of all gross revenue is siphoned out of the PC games industry into a black hole.
It doesn't recirculate into studios.
It doesn't pay any bonuses.
It doesn't fund any sequels or DLC.
This is a particularly insidious tax because it's well hidden. It's a second order effect. Most Steams users don't know, and the few that do never consider the aggregate effect this has on their favorite hobby.
It's undeniable that, at this point in history, Valve could EASILY lower the distribution fee while maintaining healthy margins. But they don't have to.
Users are locked into Steam and therefore developers are stuck paying 30% of gross revenue to Valve.
The irony is that Steam users, the very ones maintaining this unbreakable stalemate, would benefit the most from a better financed game development ecosystem.
I don't think this is fixable. It's just sad.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Steam calculates its revenue share on net revenue after adjustments for refunds, chargebacks and taxes, not gross revenue. It funds Steam's platform services and infrastructure including distribution, Workshop, multiplayer tools, cloud saves and discovery features.

Removing AI from your feed with four Mondrian community creations based on awesome indie games.
We HAVE been having this conversation.
Over and over again.
Gamers have been called all sorts of phobes and -ists having this conversation.
Been told we hate things because we're selfish and cruel.
Because we hate others.
Meanwhile, the fact that gaming journalists hold more allegiance to gaming corporations than to the gamer gets ignored.
Their lack of honesty and transparency gets brushed under the rug by those "on the right side of history".
Well, businesses who ignore their customers and only focus on those who benefit from polishing their knobs lose their customers - no matter how hard you try to tell them it's their fault.
Fuck off with this "we need to have a chat" bullshit.
We need to have a serious conversations on what reviews are evaluating about games and who their target audience is🚀
I’m not saying the games on the left side are necessarily deserving 100%, but how did they get a 60% from Eurogamer while Dragon Age: The Veilguard got 100%?🚀
By what metric are these aspects being judged, because I’m sure as hell none of them reflect what players prioritize in games, which ultimately is audience that is supposed to read and base their decision on🤔
