And full time academics are also working many more hours they are contracted to do. Drivers include increasing student numbers, without added resource, and a need to maintain research activity despite a massive teaching load so as not to be perceived as a second class citizen.
Part-time academics in UK universities are working double the hours that they get paid for, according to a @ucu study that warns that casualisation brings “shame” to the sector. bit.ly/2XpdV9x
This is absolutely true in terms of full and part time staff and students. Universities so often try to cut costs without realising the time, cost and expertise good teaching costs.
“Employers need to recognise the full cost of providing teaching and stop trying to provide these services on the cheap, at a cost to both staff and students.” bit.ly/2XpdV9x

Feeling a mix of anger and sadness right now. My friend Ron Skeans was the BBC cameraman attacked at the Trump rally in El Passo, TX. Ron has always produced good, balanced edits of the events he films.
Walk to work this morning, lovely!
