High school athletics is fascinating because the same parent who demands accountability from coaches will explain why their child shouldn't have consequences for missing three practices.
Accountability is apparently a one-way street.

What a bitch move dude. You got a coach fired for holding your pussy son accountable?
Wait till he gets into the real world and have to deal with coworkers. I hope he doesn’t have to work in the trades, manufacturing or any job that needs a set of balls to survive

This might be the best cfb hype video ever. The fact that Morgan Freeman is narrating too 🔥
Joe Jackson was a joy to coach. Never complained, worked hard, wasn’t soft, and knew that when a coach told him he could be bigger, faster, and stronger that it wasn’t to push him to be greater. (He didn’t have thin skin and get his feelings hurt by criticism). Blueprint player!
As some of you know, I am not coaching this Fall. So you won’t be getting my usual request for assistance for my program in the way of fundraising. I would ask you to instead help my wife and twin daughters in their sport, volleyball, reach their goals.

Let me guess a Superintendent with a God complex or parents whose little Johnny didn’t get enough minutes?

Luke Falk shared a Mike Leach story that stopped me cold:
Two kids. One rich. One poor.
Every training camp, Coach Leach told his team about these 2 kids.
The rich kid has two choices.
Get soft. Get entitled. Expect everything handed to him because he was handed more.
Or take the resources, the coaching, the opportunities, and compound them into something greater.
The poor kid has two choices too.
Say nobody gave him anything. Blame the world. Make his circumstances the reason he never became what he could have been.
Or outwork everyone in the room.
Luke said the locker room had both. Kids from wealth. Kids from nothing. Kids with every advantage. Kids who scraped for every inch.
Same choice for all of them.
Ownership or victimhood.
Fuel or excuse.
The rich kid can waste the head start or build on it.
The poor kid can drown in the deficit or weaponize it.
Greatness doesn't come from where you start.
It comes from which kid you choose to feed.
Credit to @coachlukefalk for continuing to share golden nuggets about Coach’s legacy

This clip from JaMarcus Shephard's opening press conference is a must-watch for any leader.
"I get up in the morning, I look in the mirror, and I say to myself, ‘There’s someone who needs you today, big dog. They need you. They need you now....They need you today. I don’t care what’s going on in your life right now. Go help them."
Someone needs you today. Not when your schedule clears. Not when life feels easier. Today.
You can’t schedule when someone will need you. You can only choose to be there when they do.

You had money for turf.
You had money for new scoreboards.
You had money for branding and upgrades.
You had money to add more administrators to schools.
But you never had money to pay the people who make it all matter.
Districts ignored us. Unions never fought for us.
Tomorrow the silence ends and accountability begins.

I got a call from a parent yesterday. A coach from the NAIA level came out to watch his son play last Friday night. The kid has no offers. The coach was ready to offer the kid and spoke with the AD about it. The AD told the coach that the kid was better than the NAIA level, so he didn't offer.
High school administration and coaches don't kill an opportunity for a kid based on your opinion.
