It may be controversial to say this but I really like the posthumous album POST SCRIPT by THE FALL.

I really love Morrissey's - "Isle of Dogs" It signals a return to the theme of Class Disgust and hatred for the poor. youtu.be/0eqoJICRKNw?si=tFCh… via @YouTube
Delighted to have launched the debut poetry collection by Ciaran O'Griofa last night. Gaps Between My Dreams is a wonderful collection. Make sure to get a copy. @LimerickWriters

Life is a lotto and you don't get to pick your parents, but again today, publication day, I am counting my blessings for mine, Con and Siobhán Creedon, to whom my new memoir - This Boy's Voice - is dedicated with gratitude and love. (wedding day July 1943)
I really enjoyed reading from Gardening Leave at Circling The Square Festival in Thurles. A wonderful festival in memory of Dennis O'Driscoll.
GARDENING LEAVE will feature on RTE Radio 1's Poetry People on Sunday October 25th. I will be interviewed by presenter Rachel Hegarty and read from the collection.
Solidarity with all Public Service Workers who will go on strike tomorrow. All trade unions including my own - UNITE - have received an overwhelming endorsement for strike action by their members. Ignore the "impact of all this" narrative and focus on WHY a strike is necessary.
Good to see ICTU rejecting these twelfth hour offer of talks at the WRC. The Government have had a long time to make a serious offer to public sector workers and have failed to do so. Watch out for plenty of spin on how strikes are bad for everyone...
As we head into a legitimate Public Service Strike this week, we see the usual media narrative on the "impact" of the strike rather than a detailed focus on WHY a strike is necessary. Workers do not go on strike unless there is good reason to. ✊
More news on the Creative Writing front. I will be returning to Doolin next month for the UL Creative Writing Winter School. The team includes Donal Ryan, Sarah Moore Fitzgerald and Neil Hegarty. All booking inquiries to [email protected]

After 37 great years, I am handing in my badge as Professor of Cultural Sociology at UL today. It's been a privilege to teach, research and write on things that I am passionate about. I will miss teaching most of all. Thanks to my many students, colleagues and friends at UL.
