The IRS has announced they will begin accepting 2022 individual income tax returns beginning January 23rd
For individual income tax returns the deadline to file the returns or file extensions is April 18th this year; not April 15th

The IRS systems are scheduled to come back online from maintenance starting January 24th. This includes the IRS’ ability to resolve some previous year representation issues such as fixing misapplied credits to efiling 2021 tax returns.
