Pankaj explains that #tankers rate can remain high for a long time due to:
1) Busy winter season is coming
2) For 3 years new VLCC and Suesmax are coming, yet 20 years and older shadow fleet will retire
3) Asian countries will buy more oil from Americas; tons/mile will be higher
Tanker rates could remain elevated as geopolitical disruptions reshape oil flows and tighten effective vessel supply. 🚢 ⚡️
In this Talking Transports podcast, @HeidmarMaritime Holdings $HMR CEO Pankaj Khanna joins @BBGIntelligence 's Lee Klaskow @LogisticsLee to discuss crude and product tanker markets. ⚓️
Khanna says freight has surged to 25-30% of oil's delivered cost from 3-5% historically, with one US Gulf-China VLCC voyage recently fixed at $82 million.
He sees crude outperforming products given greater cargo availability and says Asian buyers diversifying away from Middle East oil could boost ton-miles.
They also discuss the shadow fleet, Heidmar's asset-light model, dry-bulk expansion and AI, which could allow operators to manage twice as many ships.

It's the #tankers stocks that I had in the first 2 months of 2026 that are the reason of most of my 72% return YTD. I don't buy options, I don't day trade. I just move upstream downstream the energy sector.
Paradigm shift - USA can no longer control the sea as admitted by their own ambassador in Turkey
xitter.cf/MarioNawfal/status/211…
🇺🇸 Trump's Middle East envoy just delivered a stark message to America's Gulf allies.
Amb. Tom Barrack said the post-WWII model in which Washington acted as the world's security guarantor is undergoing a fundamental realignment.
Gulf states, he argued, need to increasingly protect themselves through regional partnerships.
He specifically pointed to the emerging Saudi-Pakistan-Turkey defense partnership as the kind of diversification the region should pursue, even as the U.S. continues building up military forces around Iran.
Barrack insisted America isn't abandoning the region: “We're not leaving.”
But his broader message was unmistakable:
“America as the guarantor to the world, for the last 80 years, it is no longer there.”
