Yup
i've been talking to a lot of normal ppl outside of tech about personal agents & the convos have been incredibly fascinating, particularly w.r.t. to retention. most consumer products typically have one of two types of retention, one is desire driven which is just pure dopamine (like insta, tiktok, games). they often don't even need notifications because you know there is a reward for your desire always waiting. the second is dependency driven, like emails, calendars, even credit cards & banking. most ppl have to do this, it's not something they necessarily desire (unless they are a sociopath). the challenge with personal ai agents right now is that they occupy a weird third space where they aren't emotionally rewarding most of the time to become entertainment like the first category, & they're not reliable / indispensable enough to become pure infra. i.e. they fail, & there is a lot of friction. outside of pure research driven tasks, even one failure is often enough to not come back for the utility value prop. which is why i think vertical agents that focus on making your life more interesting & entertaining are worth deep exploration still. & even very focused vertically integrated utility agents that work reliably will still be in demand. tons of ppl still think in jobs to be done when reaching for anything & with general purpose agents that's just not as crisp yet on what those critical jobs are.

Mesh and @Visa are partnering to make crypto and stablecoin balances spendable anywhere Visa is accepted: 175M+ merchant locations, straight from the wallet apps people already use. No separate card. No cash-out. Nothing for merchants to change. na2.hubs.ly/H08sd-G0

Incredibly big milestone for @bamazizimesh and @meshpay, expanding stablecoin payments to merchants globally direct from wallet with @Visa. Love to see them continue to crush it.
THE BLOCK: Mesh has partnered with Visa to let users spend cryptocurrency and stablecoin balances held in participating wallet apps at more than 175 million merchant locations worldwide. The integration will enable in-store and online payments through a Visa credential provisioned behind the scenes, with Mesh handling transaction funding and conversion without requiring users to sell or transfer assets beforehand.

Opening night at @money2020: our CEO @bamazizimesh sat down with @alexblania, fresh off the launch of @world_id for banking and finance. When agents start paying on our behalf, proving there's a real human behind them becomes core payments infrastructure.

.@HadickM on @MTSlive re: agents + money: “When you’re built on top of Plaid, you have a bunch of failures, failure rates at 2% or so for ACH. And there’s a lot of capital inefficiency in it as well.” “If you ask your LLM what bank should you use that is agent friendly, they’ll tell you Mercury. They won’t tell you JPMorgan.” “A financial institution that controls those different accounts and is able to monetize those different accounts, that is AI first and agent first, that is where you’re likely to see a lot of this happen.” “The concern is the surplus will continue to shift from banks to fintechs.”

Ironically, this poll is a prime example of how polling is such a significantly worse form of information gathering than prediction markets. They specifically asked respondents if they opposed “betting on election results”, which obviously is actively asking the respondent to have a point of view on gambling specifically and then using that to extrapolate to broader PM use cases. There is endless research about the use of negative language and how that affects polling. If it asked, “do you oppose being able to hedge political risk”, this would swing significantly the other direction. A use case we are seeing a ton of institutional demand for and is likely to be far bigger the retail use case (which is also not necessarily gambling!) in this election and the next. You’d think with how thoroughly embarrassed the pollsters have been in recent years that they would have learned their lesson by now.
New Reuters poll is brutal for prediction markets: 75/8 say prediction sites are gambling 60/13 oppose election markets 43/29 oppose sports markets 65/8 oppose US military markets 63/9 oppose markets on US gov. policy decisions Broad opposition across party lines

These numbers are eye popping and I would bet there are significantly worse unit economics among a bunch of the well known highly funded AI startups.
I pulled the Character bankruptcy docs. They show: - They were spending $14 million/month on compute alone at a time their revenue was around ~$1 million/month - Currently losing $9 million a month - They admitted they enshittified & that it didnt work 404media.co/character-ais-ba…
