Saving this for when I'm inevitably asked for proof in the future.
* Gender diversity is correlated with both profitability & value creation.
* Top-team ethnic & cultural diversity is correlated with profitability.
* The penalty for not being diverse on both measures persists. xitter.cf/josh_bersin/status/955…

When you look for a support number online do you Google the company name then the words “customer support”?
Scammers know that’s what most do so they work hard to ensure their scam number pops up before the *real* support number on Google to steal money, data, etc via your call.
My @delta flight got canceled from JFK. The customer service line was huge, so I google a Delta JFK phone number. The number was 1888-571-4869 Thinking I reached Delta, I started telling them about getting me on a new flight.
Was hoping this wouldn’t be the case but alas.

Searching for things has become less about providing answers and more about Google, the people that pay Google, and the people that game Google. The SEO industry - and the clicks-focused incentive of online publishers - has rotted out search.

The surprising life of the most famous laugh in music history: Alison Moyet’s in Situation.
41 years ago today, Yazoo released "Only You" as a single. But it was the B-side "Situation"—featuring Alison Moyet's indelible laugh—that would transform the meaning of "12-inch remix" (with an assist from genius @fknyc ). Here's my history from 2018: daily.redbullmusicacademy.co…

A lot of people seem to be wondering why a separate app is necessary in the first place, which is a totally reasonable thing to wonder about! There are a few big reasons, and they have a lot to do with metadata and cataloging.
It seems that companies conducting layoffs are competing on who can be more cruel and inhumane. How about Saturday night and by blocking slack? Denying entry by blocking badges? A bland, corp speak email? Any other ideas?
Breaking News: Twitter is said to have laid off at least 200 more workers. The platform now employs less than 2,000, down from 7,500 when Elon Musk took over. nyti.ms/3ZlDRhJ

This is a recurring form of techno-hubris: the idea that baseline concepts like "family" have crisp definitions and that any exceptions are outliers that would never swallow the rule. 20/

Every once in a while you’ll see a tweet like this, suggesting the task you’ve been procrastinating on will only take a few minutes. Don’t buy it! It’s selection bias; the only people tweeting this are those who were able to complete their tasks. Your task is actually impossible.

And if you wanted to talk to someone on The Phone, you had to think about where they were in order to dial the right number. Were they at home? At parents? At work? At friends? Or, the worst, traveling?

If you had to meet someone, you would make plans to meet them at a specific time and all parties would take it on faith that each other would follow through. Because the only way to communicate with them was a landline phone. At your home. Or maybe at the intended destination.
