"A powerful vote of confidence in our science base, our skilled workforce and our wider innovation ecosystem." That's what Mayor Steve Rotheram called the decision of biotechnology company Croda to establish its global research centre in the Liverpool City Region. The Mayor formally opened the facility, which is based at one of the UK’s leading science and innovation campuses - Sci-Tech Daresbury, alongside Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State and Minister for Reindustrialisation Blair McDougall MP. 👉 ow.ly/Hnir50ZPf0X #DevolutionDelivers

Sci-Tech Daresbury has ambitious expansion plans to attract even more world-leading innovation - and we're delighted to be playing our part in making that happen. Described by Mayor Steve Rotheram as 'one of the jewels in Liverpool City Region’s innovation crown', north of England's only national science and innovation campus has been carrying out world-leading research for decades and is home to the UK's most powerful supercomputer dedicated to industrial R&D. On Friday the Combined Authority will consider £7.5m of Innovation Zone funding to support construction of a new building containing high-grade office and innovation space that would create around 100 highly skilled jobs. If approved, construction of the building - and a second one which has already received Combined Authority backing - would be expected to start next summer. With around 2,000 workers and more than 150 companies, Sci-Tech Daresbury is home to world-class facilities including the STFC Hartree Centre and associated National Centre for Digital Innovation in collaboration with IBM.
