Constantly curious. There are no bad assets, just bad prices.

Running into the same issue here. I've told family to contribute to their RESP (Canadian university savings account) or gifting money as a way of signing up for the cost of sports and activities. Converting family and friends to doing this hasn't been too successful
We need to collectively agree: No gifts for kids bday parties (like your kids friends bday party). Call me a Scrooge! But we all just have to buy the same junk each weekend and no one actually wants it.

Looks like I bought the wrong pencil company
I bought Yakult and Mitsubishi Pencil stock at the same time last year. I'm up 80% on my Mitsubishi Pencil stock but only up 17% on my Yakult stock. The Yakult sales lady MILFs and GILFs need to work way harder.

There's no way the board wasn't aware of the buyers interest...5 days prior to cutting the dividend to 0. Something seems a little off here $SGR-U.NE

Used to own this. Crazy cheap but like most companies in Japan, capital allocation leaves a lot to be desired.

I'm pretty sure every fraud has always pointed to their auditors "unqualified audit opinion" as a self defence. Without fail

Nice to see this finally come through as this has been delisted for about a year. I believe the full amount of this div is fully taxable and not out of the paid up capital
Received an 18.6c dividend recently for this one. I expect further ~5c after wind up finalised, but timing is uncertain. I bought at roughly 15c, so not a bad workout in the end

Haven’t seen it posted anywhere but $FILA.MI recently sold another 7% of their DOMS investment for over 70m euros bringing their stake to 19%. They refinanced some of their debt and are now paying a special dividend of €0.46/share. Business seems to be doing well also

A "reset" of Telus' dividend. In other words, a 55% dividend "cut"

Trying to think through this $MFBP buyout and put some crude math together on some of the other ECIP banks. Mechanic is being bought out for about $103m once the preferred is redeemed. $MFBP alluded to when they can repurchase their preferred in their 2025 annual report:

Another ECIP bank $CZBS, their bank subsidiary book value looks like this if you adjust the potential redemption of the preferred at 21 cents on the dollar:

If you apply the same multiple that Mechanic was just taken out for, it appears Citizens has a lot of room to run still. I'd say the multiple should be higher here because it is a better run bank imo

Nothing worse in investing than watching a stock you want to buy keep going up every day

Kind of strange since the beginning of May when $CPH.TO NCIB began, we haven't seen one share repurchase yet

Goldmoney $XAU.TO with a solid 49mm EBIT in their gold storage business for the year. Puts it at just under 3x trailing EV/EBIT. On top of that they own UK real estate worth a net 140mm and are buying back stock.
