Thanks Mike! It was a great first SfN, and I’m glad I was able to present our work.
Great week at #SfN24. I learned a ton but the highlight for me was watching @HarrisEdwardB represent our lab by presenting his Alzheimer's (and dissertation) work -- great job! @AM_OMRF

I dedicate this video to the fly that gave her life for science, but will live forever in silico. She has supercharged the discoveries of the #FlyWire Consortium, and propels us into the digital transformation of neuroscience. Protip: watch with audio on. youtube.com/watch?v=RQuYaMDc…

How can we train biophysical neuron models on data or tasks? We built Jaxley, a differentiable, GPU-based biophysics simulator, which makes this possible even when models have thousands of parameters! Led by @deismic_, collab with @CellTypist @ppjgoncalves biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/…

Hot-rodded vintage electron microscopes, around-the-clock shifts at the lab, huddles by a digital fireplace — and petabytes of brain connectivity data to show for it all. Glimpse our #electronmicroscopy team's tremendous work as part of the collaborative MICrONS program.

Very best thing I did this week was to listen to a lecture on the history of the AP and bioelectricity by @UW_PBIO Prof. Bertil Hille. He is always clear and inspiring!!! His name should appear in red in the title: if you listen, you will know what I mean. pbio.uw.edu/bertil-hille-sem…

On this day 10 years ago I was set to have another open heart surgery. The @okcthunder were in the playoffs in Memphis and dropped by. Today, I am blessed to spend my career working on the heart with the cherry on top being able to watch the thunder back in the playoffs.

To write well, you must read and reflect on how others write. You can't just wake up one day and start writing well. If you don't wanna see how good books do it, see and analyze papers on how the best science writers do it. How they frame arguments. How they use linear logic etc.
