The 1 line quicksort challenge. Reconstruct the missing line! 😏 #technomage void qsort(int v[], int l, int r) { int i, p; if (l >= r) return; // One liner quicksort here... qsort(v, l, p - 1); qsort(v, p, r); }

Little Ponder: Unpopular opinion: Learning computer programming is not learning to code. Coding is just learning the language. Show and Tell. 3 hours to learn how to code in BASIC and HTML. Perl? 1 weekend. Coding is easy. It's trivial. It's automatic. Just like talking. Programming? That's Design. Problem Solving. Art and Science. I've been studying it all my life, and I just barely scratch the surface. AI: is a computer. A box. A smart box, but it's still a box having neither common sense nor good judgment. You, human, are the key to success! Prompting isn't coding because it's so vague and ambiguous. The best relationship I can think of is that of senior developer overseeing junior developer. So, Design -> Design Document -> Pseudocode -> Computer Code -> Testing Suite -> Final Program. Without good design, you just copy. Without Pseudocode, you're just rambling. Without Testing, you're just hoping. So, yes, Learn to Code. But also learn Design and Computer Programming. Learn how to *think*. "Everyone should learn how to code because it teaches you how to think" - Steve Jobs (So does Chris Crawford, IIRC) (And me, too.) Hmmm... #LearnToCode #Design #Algorithm
I genuinely do not know if learning to code is a smart move at this point. Why? Well, I do know that already knowing how to code is incredibly useful. But it took decades to master, and who knows how long it will stay useful? I think we have enough coders to bridge us to the point where we no longer need coders.

Little Ponders: Lazy Sunday Chess kept coming up in the same narrow form: positions where everything gets traded and the King finishes the job in 30+ moves. So routine that it starts getting boring. Other posts were small and scattered: a remark about an upcoming Atari 800XL for kids learning computer programming. On Saturday a Little Ponders asked Grok for a sketchnote of possible jobs based on the posting history here, plus a longer feature request for a native Markdown export of Grok conversations. Distribution tightened again late in the week; this coincides with my blocking those African meme posts. There are too many of them, crowding out everything else! Since I wasn't doing anything else, that becomes a strong signal. 😮‍💨 In other news: do people really use GrokBots for daily tasks instead of asking Grok to build them a simple batch files scheduled on cron? Personally? I don't trust non-deterministic process to do important tasks. Doubly so if it lives on cloud. Even more so if I have to pay for it. Worse, if it involves some very expensive hardware. If I do that, then what have I gained, other than laziness, ignorance, and dependency upon opaque processes? Hmmm...
This is f*cking insane. SpaceXAI engineer: "99% of people use GrokBot for 1% of what it can do. They run one agent without loops or graphs I run a team of 30+ GrokBot agents. By 7 a.m. my Chief of Staff has the day planned, my PM has handed out the work, and the workers have shipped half of it" In this 1-hour session, SpaceXAI shows how to build that team from scratch GrokBot → Chief of Staff → PM → Workers → Self-Improving Team A loop sends every task back until it actually works A graph lets one agent hand its result to the next without you in the middle Anyone can ask GrokBot a question, almost nobody gives it a team to run Worth more than most $1,500 agentic engineering courses Watch it today Then read how to build a fleet of GrokBot agents in the harness engineering guide below ↓

Speaking of chess: Mate with a King in about 30 moves. #chesspunks #chesspuzzle #killerking

Oh, that's it for this week! No cute cat videos this week.

Little Ponders: Chess puzzles of exchange all pieces then mate with the King in 30+ moves seems popular. I do too many of these, that it becomes boring to me, though? Hmmm... #chesspunks #chesspuzzle #killerking

Little Ponders: False assumption: Software: Pseudorandom algorithm doesn't allow this without going through the full span of spaces. Hardware: bit distributions should be close to 50/50. Cryptographic: Generated seeds must be primes. Human: type random numbers repeatedly. Random analog device: lavalamps has large mutation space. Conclusion: The specific number generated in the number space available is either being generated by saboteur or a 4 year old rolling a six sided die. I'll let you decide which is more probable. Hmmm...
it might sound counterintuitive but mathematically this combination has the same probability of being randomly generated as any other

The threads following the discussions becomes a bunch of naysayers claiming that it cannot be done, yet, of course it can! Profitability is where the big question lie, and I'm sure technology will catch up someday. Getting tired of all the negativities...

Little Ponders: You know how cloning maxed out at 58 iterations? What a surprise it will be if suddenly, people starts getting cancer at their 58th (star trek) transportation travel. Hmmm... #AskAI #transporter #quantum

Remote monitoring and remote control are 2 different things. An alarm may be remote, but then it gets routed to manager, and then to local worker, who then manually set the settings. Monitoring is constant, while setting isn't. I guess having a competent IT manager is asking too much? #ITfail

Little Ponders: Lazy Sunday This is one chess position where I get excited and say "I'll trade my Knight to your Bishop and mate you with my King ... in about 30+ moves!" In other news. It's been a while since I got Wordle in 2 tries. Hmmm...

I sacrificed the bishop, and now I'm sacrificing the knight. I guess I'm just a poor player who has trouble following the good advice of to not lose any pieces! 😏

Getting my all time PR high in bullet rating, though. 🥳
