Lovely gig tonight for @grangeparkopera for Halloween. Sweeney Todd, Erlkonig and some Cole Porter!
This autumn I’ve taken some time out for family reasons and to focus on some things.
Spooky gig tonight to bring in the Halloween spirit 👻

A wonderful celebration following the final performance of the double bill @operahollandpk last night. A negroni (or possibly two) was taken. #OHPSusanna #OHPPagliacci
Memories made.
Farewell Silvio and @operahollandpk Pagliacci! I have no words! Onto a new chapter and the arrival of our son. Thank you to our glorious cast, crew and so many more who make this job possible. Thanks @JamesOHP for an unforgettable time!

One of the best evenings of opera I’ve been to in a long time. Bravi tutti @operahollandpk for that incredible double bill 👏👏👏@JKAConductor @francescocillu1 @jsavournin @BurkhardRichard @DavidButtPhilip Robert Hayward and huge thanks to @JamesOHP for arranging it all

I agree with every word of this. #OHPPagliacci is full of insights into characters I thought I knew (Nedda and Silvio, for starters), conveyed in the briefest but clearest of gestures. Definitely the most visceral staging I’ve seen, with first-class singing and playing.

In this review for the double bill at OHP from @RichardBratby @spectator this on #OHPPagliacci “This is an electrifying piece of music theatre, as intelligent as it is savage, & easily the best Pagliacci I’ve ever seen. Phenomenal. Catch it while you can.”

“Harry Thatcher’s bright baritone had an almost naive energy to it, untinged and pure. His Silvio was the brief light, the single green shoot of hope on an otherwise desiccated landscape.”

“A lighter contrasting touch came from Harry Thatcher, whose more lyrical, higher baritone as Silvio was silky and long-limbed – a Don Giovanni sound that captured – or manipulated – Nedda.”
Three more shows next week to come see our five star show 😊

No tears for the 'Cav and Pag' decoupling, lucky us! Superb Il Segreto di Susanna/Pagliacci @operahollandpk last night. Great casts for both but such a powerful and compelling performance from @DavidButtPhilip's Canio debut. A true privilege to hear in our leafy operatic oasis. – at Kensington, London
