"The most interesting thing about Karl Marx in America, then, is that it is a book at war with its own Americanism." (I like this review, even the critical parts.)
New review just published online in the Marx and Philosophy Review of Books:

Anyone who posts like this about how "no one cares or should care" about Israel/Palestine are only loudly announcing how much *they* care but are upset with the current direction of public opinion.

"I think also that TV played a very major role. Because now you were having brought into every living room in America the brutality of the situation. So I think if we had television fifty years earlier, we would have gotten rid of lynching fifty years earlier."- Bayard Rustin

Disagree with David Friedman all you want, but it's undeniably true that Jewish civil rights workers in the 1960s did not take pictures of themselves with their phones nor did they post such pictures on twitter xitter.cf/DavidM_Friedman/status…

When there’s an 85-15 issue you can always count on mainstream media to elevate the extreme minority opinion which reflects the preference of centers of power and pretend like that’s normal

Jamie Meltzl recently marched in the same nationalist parade as Bezalel Smotrich and other members of Israel's far-right Otzma Yehudi party. But Meltzl has fantasized that El-Sayed is in cahoots with the Muslim Brotherhood.
Any journalist or voter who does not ask Abdul El-Sayed about his association with Islamism and the Muslim Brotherhood is guilty of malpractice. This has nothing to do with "Islamophobia" and everything to do with the legitimate concerns referenced below. This is the exact same standard we would apply to a candidate with family associations to the KKK, Proud Boys, or any other extremist group. xitter.cf/moghaoui/status/211246…

Today is the official release date for my new book, First Among Equals: Visions of Equality before Egalitarianism (Belknap, 2026).
It explores how and why “equality” became, rather suddenly, a basis on which ordinary men and women could make political demands in early modern England.

The “madness” in question being a Muslim man who opposes genocide.
For me, the only dignified choice is to leave the Senate race blank—an undervote representing a rejection of ideological absolutism. This makes me no less a Democrat. I refuse to be complicit in excusing or accepting extremism to beat extremism. The madness has to stop somewhere.

Islamophobia seems at an all time high in the US, worse even than post-9-11. Terrifying levels of rank bigotry.
