Having been sick when Hawk Wing died last December, I couldn’t pay homage to the great horse properly. With the Lockinge on tomorrow, it felt like the perfect time to honour him. In the piece, I spoke to those who knew him best. attheraces.com/blogs/declan-…

Some fella crawling on his hands and knees between the final two fences at Cheltenham and the leader comes down at the last. Not ideal.

No one more disappointed than me that JP signed off the Jackdaws deal; hopefully it won’t affect the O’Neill’s season, but listening to this, people in the UK really don’t hate this Labour government enough.
When Shell and the government claim today that Jackdaw had to be approved because "over £1 billion had already been invested" and because it will feed a new "Energy Wealth Fund," they are describing a circular con: the public funded the £1 billion buildout through 91% tax

Andrew Balding got a nice horse there, a lovely debut from Chariots Of Fire at Kempton.

Marcus Townend Fundraiser About Marcus After time with local newspapers and the Sporting Life, he worked for the Daily Mail for 35 years, graduating to becoming its racing editor and correspondent – a diligent, principled, talented and tenacious journalist. Marcus's accident It is nearly a year since Marcus fell off his bike and suffered the first of three bleeds in his brain. Three months later, he had gradually recovered well enough from the first two to spend a month at home. The third bleed, which occurred at the end of March, following a plate insertion to repair his skull, proved the most damaging, from which he is still recuperating. Too late, he was finally diagnosed in July to have mild haemophilia. Despite his amazing determination to communicate clearly, self care and mobilise, he will require ongoing neurophysiotherapy and much care from others to achieve his independent potential. How you can help? This year's HWPA Derby Awards Lunch (Monday 7th December) will be combined with a fundraiser for Marcus.. 1. Straight Donation - join the many simply donating... justgiving.com/crowdfunding/… 2. Join the Wall of Supporters for the lunch - not only can you attend the lunch (£140 per head) using the form below, you can also join the list of company logos/sponsors that will form the backdrop form.jotform.com/26262629171… 3. Contribute a Silent Auction Prize - we will be running a silent auction in the weeks building up to the lunch with the auction finishing on the day. Market told a bit on Calandagan but what a machine Ombudsman is. 130+ beast, a special horse at his peak and so well handled earlier in his career.

If you haven’t yet seen this, it’s worth taking a look at this detailed examination of the UK Govt’s response to Israel’s bombardment of Gaza. One key revelation is when aid workers including British nationals were killed in an Israeli strike on a World Central Kitchen convoy. Two days later, the then UK Foreign Sec David Cameron signed off on the latest arms export approval to Israel. That same day he announced an urgent and “transparent” investigation into the attack. channel4.com/programmes/brit…

Fair play, Darkness Falls - asked him a huge question and he delivered. Classy horse.

Not ideal he missed the Middle Park via a dirty scope and he might be there to tee it up for Darkness falls, but going to chance Great Barrier Reef without Desert Castle given 100/30 looks fair. Darkness Falls looked so, so good at Leopardstown, but

they are asking him a huge question dropping in trip at a track like Newmarket, especially with a tailwind on goodish ground. Great Barrier Reef goes up in trip here which I like, given everything about him suggests he’ll be even better over 7f. Just hope he’s straight enough.
