Update: I am currently working with the directors of @newbeaconbooks to release a crowdfunding campaign to support the shop. Will share as soon as it’s ready!
London’s first Caribbean bookshop, The New Beacons Bookshop in Finsbury Park, is closing down. 25% of all books, please come down and support. It is such an affirming space, my heart breaks.

If @barelit festival have spare cash after not being on the last year or two perhaps they can donate some fund to the New Beacon Book shop? I'm certain that @jhalakprize would do what they could too to match it!

@dotunadebayo Hi Dotun, it's Sam, with your history as a radical publisher at X Press is there anything you would suggest to help stop this? Or any philanthropist acquaintances you know who may be able to intervene with an injection of cash? xitter.cf/MonitoringGroup/status…

In the AIDS crisis, big pharma profited whilst denying access to lifesaving medicines & politicians were silent. Today the UK is blocking the #TRIPSwaiver that could end deadly COVID monopolies & ensure global vaccine access. From the AIDS crisis to COVID, #SilenceEqualsDeath.

When the AIDS crisis threatened the world, Labour leadership helped break pharma monopolies on HIV drugs. Millions of lives were saved through global access to affordable medicines. We must do the same today and demand Boris Johnson stops blocking the #TRIPSWaiver #WorldAidsDay

Anti-Asian bigotry, fueled by #COVID19, is also deeply rooted in history and the war on drugs. INPUD condemns the sharp rise in anti-Asian hate crimes and stands w/ those working to destabilise the foundations of white supremacy. #StopAsianHate 👉bit.ly/2NKFkyV

Happy International Women’s Day!!! ❤️❤️❤️🙏🏽✊🏾💐 How great, that 2021 is gearing up to be our year of re-emergence. At the same time, the pandemic has exposed that women and girls are impacted so much more by growing inequality, globally. Too much remains hidden from view.
