Drawing attention to images of pregnant bodies without heads, without humanity. Representation matters. #headlesspreggos (run by @arcattapan and @daniiii__m)

The #headlesspreggo is a trope that needs to go. The "bump" is not a problem on its own, but when used as the primary visual representation of reproduction, we dehumanize pregnant people by reducing them to a single body part.

This is such a perfect example of a story about reproductive autonomy and lack thereof, but where the image used is a quintessential #headlesspreggo (although the image in the preview is different than images in the article) @HeadlessPreggos

This is an example of a terrific photo illustration for a story about abortion — no exam table, no @HeadlessPreggos, no abortion rally signs. It’s thoughtful and creative. I don’t know who at the @StarTribune is responsible for it, but: good job! startribune.com/minnesota-ab…

A well-needed reminder that there is no need to reduce pregnant people to a headless bump. Going through recent news articles revealed a plethora of #headlesspreggos.

This article from @forbeshealth features useful information about trimesters, but the #headlesspreggo with forgets that there is a person attached to the pregnancy. forbes.com/health/family/gui…

Considering this @WIRED article criticizes that the abortion debate in the US focuses on fetal health (rather than the realities of pregnancy), the use of a #headlesspreggo is disappointing. bit.ly/3zvtVZo

A tour of a few #headlesspreggos from the week -- and a reminder that there are ways to depict pregnancy and #repro that don't reduce pregnant people to a single body part...

Do we need to comment on this #headlesspreggo? What about this headline from @CNNnews18 ? What are the flowers for? Meditation and water? How about a world that doesn't reduce pregnant people to the caretakers of fetuses and children alone? bit.ly/3tfcI2p

This article on @local4news reports on research out of @UMich by @JDMeekerUM on increased exposure to chemicals in pregnant women, including those with low incomes and POC. No need for the article to depict women as just #headlesspreggos... bit.ly/3zgbOXa

We call it a #headlesspreggo over here, and ones used to depict abortion are the worst kind.
Love it when publications that should know better use big pregnant belly to illustrate attacks on abortion/the end of Roe v. Wade. Cool cool
