Sources: St. Bonaventure is finalizing a deal to make Daemen University coach Mike MacDonald the school’s next head coach. He’s won more than 500 games as a college coach, including going 61-3 the last two seasons.

Couldn’t be happier for Coach Mac—no one deserves it more. He’s more than just a coach. There’s not a birthday, holiday, or anniversary that goes by where he doesn’t reach out to me or any of his former players. An unbelievable coach, but an even better person. #wooo

St. Bonaventure is finalizing a deal with D-2 Daemen head coach and Bonnies alum Mike MacDonald, source told @thefieldof68.

MacDonald was the head coach at Canisius from 1997-2006, and was 108-153 in nine seasons.

He then took over at Medaille in 2006, and was 149-73 in eight seasons before going to Daemen in 2014. He is 232-84 in the past 11 years. Bonnies GM Adrian Wojnarowski knows MacDonald well, and wanted to find someone that would be strong at evaluating, developing and retaining players.

Mike MacDonald is and has been an incredible Coach for a long time. Mike gets his teams to play a relentless yet organized style that brings incredible confidence and clarity for each other and gives them the answers to the test. @BonniesMBB made a great hire. High level person.

St. Bonaventure going with Mike MacDonald, who was 108-153 over nine seasons as Canisius head coach from 1997 to 2006, but has built a Division II powerhouse at Daemen.

First time @NavyBasketball plays the Tar Heels since the 1998 NCAA Tournament. That year the Mids were led by @HearyMike’s 13.2 PPG. UNC had Antawn Jamison, Vince Carter & three other future NBA players.

RIP to a Navy legend. Not only was he a great broadcaster, but a friend, father and husband. He touched the lives of so many midshipmen in his 28 years with Navy Athletics. You will be missed.
