🚆 The £15.6bn transport investment is welcome — but once again, North Yorkshire is left behind. No funding for York. No upgrades for Harrogate–Knaresborough. No plan for how people actually travel. We need investment that reaches beyond city borders. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cqj7…

✉️ I’ve raised concerns with North Yorkshire Council about the state of pavements & roads in our towns. ❄️ Many areas are now free of snow & ice, but I’ve asked for extra support in Harrogate & Knaresborough to assist local residents and businesses. yourharrogate.co.uk/local-ne…

This week I attended the @CatsProtection event in parliament, & heard about their work improving the welfare of cats across the UK. As a cat lover I’m keen to see the Gov do more. In the balance of interest (& in true Lib Dem fence sitting style) I would note I also love dogs.

Budget fails to tackle social care crisis. Unless social care workers paid properly 130,000 care worker vacancies will remain unfilled. Whilst more will remained stranded in hospital beds coz care simply not available. @RachelReevesMP @LibDems #NHSCrisis

This afternoon it was a privilege to be elected as one of the co-chairs of the APPG for Adult Social Care. I look forward to work with cross party colleagues to highlight the challenges and opportunities that the adult social care sector faces.

Today's investment summit a good idea, but why is @LabourUK not nearer to the #EU single market it is a key measure to encouraging investment & growth. Our closest market is on our doorstep. Being part of it again would really kick-start investment. That is @LibDems approach.

A fantastic start to the day visiting Scotton Lingerfield Primary School 🏫 Great questions from the children, inc asking how many leaflets we delivered - because they saw a lot 😅 Lots of work to be done on trying to get a safe school crossing , as well as issues with SEND ✏️

We need to fix our broken relationship with Europe. The Liberal Democrats are committed to a better deal for Britain. It starts with moving towards the single market, and supporting a youth mobility scheme that gives young people the freedom to work and travel across Europe.

🚀 It’s been a flying start to Lib Dem Conference down on the south coast. 🤝 I’ve already met with countless charities to discuss issues that constituents have raised. 🗣️ When Parliament resumes sitting, I’ll take what I’ve learned and use it to fight for Harrogate & Knaresborough constituents.

🌱 Horticap are a fantastic local charity, who I enjoyed visiting last Friday. 🚀 Their mission has helped and inspired many in our local area, transforming so many lives. ✍️I couldn't be prouder to table a Parliamentary Motion in recognition of their achievements.

The Erasmus Scheme provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to study, teach and volunteer abroad. The new Government should be more ambitious about rebuilding stronger relationships with our European neighbours.

With Parliament returning tomorrow, I just wanted to share a snapshot of what I have been up to during recess. Here’s just a bit of a flavour👇 🚑 Met with the Chief Exec of Yorkshire Ambulance Service, and will be taking up their offer of doing a shift with an ambulance crew 👩‍⚕️Met with local GPs to hear about the issues they are facing on the ground and how I can support them in Parliament 🕍 Visited Harrogate Synagogue to meet with representatives of our local Jewish community 👦 Met with members of Harrogate Youth Council to discuss the key issues facing young people 💼 I had my first briefing with the Leader & Chief Executive of North Yorkshire Council 🌳 Spent time discussing how we can decarbonise our town with Zero Carbon Harrogate 👨 I met up with a number of Harrogate Councillors to discuss issues affecting their divisions and how we can work together 🇺🇦 I visited John Shackleton, and his colleagues, to hear about their incredible upcoming aid mission to Ukraine 🚗 I launched my first ever summer tour, with 17 stops across our towns and villages over four days, speaking to hundreds of people.

The Erasmus+ Scheme is a fantastic opportunity for young people to study, teach and volunteer abroad. It’s disappointing the new Labour Govt have ruled out re-joining. @munirawilson and I have written to the Foreign and Education Secretaries urging them to re-consider.
