SMALL BUSINESS OPTIMISM SINKS TO 6-MONTH LOW
Small business optimism just dropped to a 6 month low and while the numbers get the headlines - the bigger story is what's weighing on our entrepreneurs.
At @HelloAlice, we've found that a vast amount of small business owners said inflation worsened through 2022, forcing many of our small business owners to raise prices.
Meanwhile, let's talk about access to capital: Hello Alice has awarded more than $60 in grants to small businesses nationwide, yet the demand for funding continues to climb.
Here's what I believe we need to do:
1. Invest in training so small businesses can focus on skills. It's not about just hiring more people - it's about getting more out of the people you have and preparing for the skills you'll need in the future.
2. Push for tax relief for small businesses so they can reinvest profits into hiring, innovation or even, inventory.
3. Expand access to capital using platforms new AI driven platforms. Providing resources and insights so small businesses understand what lenders look for.
Small business owners are some of the most resilient people on the planet. When I talk to them at seminars or on my @YahooFinance podcast, #TheBigIdea - I'm reminded that optimism isn't gone - it just needs some back up help. Let's show up for them.

This is officially my most special episode yet. Our Big Idea guest is the biggest VIP in my life - my Dad. For Veteran's Day, it is my honor to host my favorite Veteran turned entrepreneur - Mike McKee. There are a total of 1.6M Veteran entrepreneurs in our great country, employing over 3.2 million workers and at @HelloAlice we are honored to provide grants and resources to thousands of these brave men and women.
I have watched throughout my life, my Dad take his service as a flight medic in the @usairforce into leadership and management into the multiple companies he has launched and sold. He is indicative of the capabilities of US soldiers to lead and grow companies - employing millions of people in all 50 states.
It is critical that we get equitable access to capital to US Veterans and Military Spouses. One way to do that is to buy Veteran-owned products and services. You can also support organizations like @wqwfoundation and @theamseagency.

Topics at Money 2020 this year got me optimistic about small business owners getting better access to capital.
Although I would still like to see more AI software coming out specifically for main street. Open banking is still on the rise which will serve the New Majority very well.
