Time for another Ferengi Friday video just in time for Halloween. Ferengi Friday is where we take a look at all the recent acquisitions that have made their way into the shop. Will we make the Nagus proud? youtu.be/JiWwtXClH-k
'Big SSL" strikes again. Sounds like a money grab attempt to me...
"The SSL industry is shortening how long certificates stay valid, from about a year down to just 47 days by 2029. That means certificates need to be reissued much more often than before."
Just found a piece of SW that Tandy published back in the day for plotting equations on the PC-2: pc1500.com/pc2mathplotter.ht… . What is really wild is that it is self modifying BASIC! The PLOT2R changes line 2 according to equation you enter.
My experiments with 3d printing sheet metal forming dies this past week. A shallow box/lid (2mm lip on a 50mm lid) can be readily formed. Deeper tends to tear metal. Tried 'bending' jigs too. These work well to for 50x50x10mm box (open corners).
I'm headed to Tandy Assembly this weekend. Will be giving a presentation on Friday about soldering. There are a LOT of great presentations all weekend. They usually stream the talks. The YouTube channel is: youtube.com/@tandyassembly

Never stopped to think about it before but heat shrink only shrinks in 1 axis, length remains same. Just took 50mm length of 3mm dia heat shrink, shrunk around a steel rod & was still 50mm. Something I just accepted but never thought about. Amazing that it works that way though.
Was ready to go to bed early last night when I found that Prime was streaming Firefly free again. Shiny!
3d printed a die set to form a 60mm x 60mm x 3mm lid from 0.25mm Al. Not bad for first try. Now printing dies for a 50mm x 50mm x 5mm lid (box).

trying to type on a plank of wood." - John Knight
Best description of the ZX-81 keyboard ever!
Epson PX-4: new prototype module adds 2 battery backed 64K RAM drives. Enclosure is designed/3D printed by me, a friend designed/made the PCB.
My friend also made a RAM drive to connects to he expansion port.
Not sure how many PX-4s are out there or what interest would be.
The 'mandage' - wrap what every small piece of cloth you can find around wound and cover with electrical tape. Far superior to any store bought adhesive bandage.
On my way home on a 100F day the AC would only blow through defrost. A somewhat common issue on Fords with vacuum operated HVAC controls. In this video we find out how to do a quick, quality fix using $3 of nylon tubing. Join us and find out how.

Posted 2 weeks ago about billing dispute w/UPS. They finally sent invoice to prove 'I' owned them. Invoice is to different company, in different state, sent to different person but w/my shipping address. Either worst copy/paste/modify CYA job ever or UPS is incompetent. @UPS
