When Smart Contracts Need Private Data
Smart contracts are good at executing transparent rules. But what happens when those rules depend on information that shouldn’t be public?
A lending application may need to assess financial data. A business may need to verify its reserves. An institution may need to process sensitive records onchain.
Making all that information public is not always practical.
@primus_labs explores how FHE can enable computation on encrypted data, helping applications work with information without exposing its underlying values.
This opens an important design possibility
smart contracts that can work with sensitive information without requiring everyone to see it.

this is the part of the agent economy I keep coming back to. Not agents that chat, but agents that pay another agent to get something done and only release the money once the work is delivered.
the hard problem was always trust. Once there's escrow and a neutral panel to settle disputes, an agent can work for a stranger it has never met. That's what makes it start to look like a real market.
I think personal bots picking up paid jobs on their own is the next step from here. Seems like just the beginning for @termix_ai

I think cryptographic flexibility is more important than trying to predict the exact date of the threat
Quantum risk may seem like a distant possibility
but public keys left exposed on-chain can be recorded today and targeted once quantum computing technology advances
@starknet approaches this issue with a local account abstraction, where each account is a smart contract with its own signature verification logic
Using replace_class, this logic can be updated while preserving an account’s address, assets, and transaction history
An important distinction is that while ethereum:0xca14007eff0db1f8135f4c25b34de49ab0d42766 proofs rely on hash-based cryptography, transaction signatures constitute a separate layer that requires post-quantum protection
Cairo-based falcon-512 accounts and post-quantum mainnet transaction experiments demonstrate that this issue has moved beyond the theoretical stage, despite high verification costs and tools that have not yet been audited.
As an Ethereum L2 network, Starknet still inherits Ethereum’s vulnerabilities to quantum attacks through its bridge and data availability layers.
For this reason, I am following research into an independent post-quantum L1

not every app needs the same trust model
zkTLS helps bring real web2 data into crypto without asking websites to change anything
@primus_labs supports two approaches
- MPC: the client and attestor establish the TLS connection together
stronger protection against data manipulation but more overhead
QuickSilver helps reduce that cost
- proxy: the attestor records the traffic, while the client proves the data is authentic faster
but relies on connecting to the right server
both work through one api so developers can choose what fits their needs
imo having that flexibility is a big plus
so having the option to choose between speed and stronger security makes sense
