BBC Scotland has already turned yesterday's storm into an attack on the SNP Govt. Katie Hunter interviewed Stephen Flynn after some businesses were flooded and pressed him on what he was going to do about it. Whether the SNP Govt would now commit to bailing every business out. This immediate politicisation of a natural event by the BBC only happens in Scotland.

HIGHLANDS Crap once a week postal service Alex Salmond wanted to take ownership of the Royal Mail this side of the Border to help avoid London running a poor service to the Highlands, but UKGov intervened. Councillors say household postal deliveries in many parts of the Highlands have fallen to as little as once a week. They said Royal Mail provided a vital service but it had become "infrequent" and letters from the NHS, banks and solicitors were arriving late. The group of nine councillors want Highland Council to raise their concerns with Royal Mail bosses. The company has previously said it worked to deliver all items within their expected time frames - the usual excuse. The consequences can be extremely serious, including missed medical appointments, late correspondence from banks, solicitors, as well as personal letters and cards from family and friends arriving late." Last month, Royal Mail said it was recruiting to fill 12 vacancies at its Inverness delivery office. Early this month, the Communication Workers Union (CWU) claimed postal staff quitting Royal Mail had gone up since the company introduced a new delivery system earlier this year.

Why is there a 'backlash' against Data Centres but no backlash against Labour's demands that new nuclear reactors be built in Scotland.

The GB Energy con was the cruellest trick played on Scottish voters. Labour promised lower energy bills and 53,000 new Scottish jobs. We got higher bills and no jobs. All over BBC Scotland during the 2024 general election. B4stards.
🚨NEW: Household energy bills are forecast to surge by 27% to an average of £2,192 a year from January, according to a new forecast by EDF, one of Britain's biggest energy suppliers

I remember being told the same, whilst under occupation by a foreign nation and being taught to accept that I was British. 50 years later, the same claim is being advanced to new generations. The colonisation of the mind at a young age is the extraction classes most powerful weapon. #SovereignScots #BhonBhunait
I remember being told throughout my entire childhood that 'the Russians might invade Britain at any time'. And 50 years later, the same claim is being advanced to a new generation.

Well the 2014 Independence referendum certainly didn't "play out as people said at the time" - the 'Better Together' partnership/voluntary union line ripped up, Scotland dragged out of the EU, lower living standards & Scottish democracy violated. Time to rechoose our 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿future.
Susanna Reid, "Why have you brought up rejoining the European Union?" Andy Burnham, "We have a decade of experience now looking back at Brexit, and I don't think it has played out as people said at the time" "We got a harder Brexit than was proposed in. the referendum campaign, it's weakened our economy, it's also weakened our control of immigration" "That might surprise people because that was the big issue. - The small boats crisis has arisen since" "I'm not proposing rejoining in this parliament" "What I am saying is we need to take some practical steps to make things work better" My view: Ten years after the referendum, we can finally judge Brexit on its actual consequences rather than the promises made in 2016. The economic evidence is substantial. The Office for Budget Responsibility estimates that Brexit will leave Britain's long-term productivity 4% lower than if we had remained in the EU, with trade volumes around 15% lower. And immigration? One of the great ironies of Brexit is that ending freedom of movement did not deliver the reductions promised. Instead, the Conservative government introduced a new immigration system, and net migration subsequently reached a record 944,000 in the year to March 2023. We exchanged reciprocal freedom of movement, which also gave British citizens the right to live, work and retire across Europe, for a system that restricted those opportunities while initially producing substantially higher immigration. The small boats crisis is a separate issue, but Brexit certainly did not resolve it. There is also an important distinction between what people voted for in 2016 and the particular Brexit subsequently negotiated. The referendum did not specify leaving the Single Market or Customs Union. Rejoining the EU would require negotiations, public consent and difficult decisions. But discussing it should not be treated as controversial or undemocratic. Democracy did not end on 23 June 2016. Ten years of evidence should inform Britain's next decisions, not be ignored simply because the subject makes some politicians uncomfortable. The question now is not whether Brexit can be defended as an article of faith, but what relationship with Europe will best serve Britain's economy, businesses, young people and future generations.

Surely an open goal for the SNP to demand Andy Burnham allow a special EU deal for Scotland given he acknowledges Brexit has been a disaster *and* given NI has benefitted from its own special EU deal.

As predictable as storm damage are the subsequent interviews of Scottish Govt ministers by BBC Scotland presenters. Laura Maciver was at it this morning when trying to antagonise Shirley Anne Somerville. The Scottish Govt didn't prepare enough apparently. Classic BritNat Breakfast.

BritNat Breakfast lifted a junk story from The Times this morning about the civil service scrapping some roles. You're going to see much more of this from the BBC as *actual* journalism is replaced by sock-puppets reading out anti-SNP stories lifted from BritNat newspaper pages. Note how Laura Maciver interrupts Shirley Anne Somerville eight seconds into her response. The original question was never meant to be answered, it was always just a set up for the interruption. The aim of the exercise was to persuade listeners that "the public purse" was being used in order to pay people to do nothing.

A reminder of how BBC Scotland leapt on the complaint to the police about Yes Scotland accounts. The station sought comments from the complainer *and* the Unionist opposition. Today police have confirmed there's nothing to investigate. But hey, the BritNats got their headlines.

The BBC treats the BMA differently either side of the border when threatening strike action. In England it's treated like a recalcitrant trade union and challenged. In Scotland it's the respected voice of doctors and indulged. Here's Nick Robinson demonstrating this difference.
