Truly heartbreaking circumstances and a situation any officer could find themselves in, some 50 years later.
Today, with PC Greens family and ex colleagues present, we remembered his sacrifice with a service at Force Headquarters.
It may have been 50 years ago, but it is a stark reminder of the dangers police officers face each and every day.
50 years ago, tomorrow, a young 20 year old PC Green took to the streets to serve the people of Birmingham. He never made it home.
Fatally stabbed and killed, doing his duty. Tomorrow, we honour that sacrifice with a short service showing his sacrifice is not forgotten.
Tonight, we have had the honour of carrying out a salute during Elgar's 'Nimrod' at the truly magnificent @policeorchestra Proms night. A truly fantastic event we love supporting.
It was truly an honour to pay our respects to those who gave their all, for our freedoms today.

When a colleague dies in service, we fly a Union Flag from the officers last parade station. We then present it to their family at the funeral service. Marking their service to the Crown.
Tonight was rather special as colleagues watched on as a flag was sadly lowered.
Certain things were just made better 50 years ago.. or at least easier to source.
We're looking for a tailor who can make a new iteration of the iconic Police Greatcoat. Preferably UK based using UK materials.
Illustrations/specs/patterns provided.

Three of our officers are currently stateside supporting the ceremonial part of the policing operation for #PoliceWeek2024 in Washington DC. Meeting colleagues old and new and greeting families of officers who have sadly lost their lives this year.
And why not bag yourself a challenge coin with it on too museum.west-midlands.police.…
This boundary map details where the West Midlands Police force covered upon its creation in 1974.
Previously, these cities and towns had separate forces - some dating further back than others, and most having been part of previous mergers!

So very sad to see this happen to one of @tpmt_org memorials honouring a @CoventryPolice hero - PC Peter Guthrie QPM.
Anything we can help with @tpmt_org

Our first national deployment as a team assisting @metpoliceuk by staffing the National Memorial as Keith's name was added to the Roll of Honour.
Truly honoured to pay our respects to a true hero.
Today we remember PC Palmer GM who was murdered on this day in 2017. We were honoured to placed our memorials to his service & sacrifice in @UKParliament & in Parliament Sq. #HonouringThoseWhoServe #PoliceMemorials #PoliceFamily @metpoliceuk @MPFed @LordSpeaker

Today, we were very proud to attend and provide funeral honours at two special ladies' funerals services - giving them the send-off they deserved.
One an in service Detective and the other a retired member of police staff.

Today we've flown a Union Flag in the name of DC Hatton, who sadly passed away whilst in service.
Flags are flown from the officers' last parade station & then presented to their loved ones at their funeral service.
A recognition of service to the crown.
