We were deeply honored to welcome Laura Montross & friends to the @HoopsHall this past weekend! 🏀 Laura visited to reflect on the legacy of her late husband & 2023 HOF Inductee Eric Montross. A 1989 state champion at @LNBoysHoops, @UNC_Basketball legend, & @NBA player. As iconic as Eric was on the court, his heart & dedication to helping others set him apart. Through the Montross Day of Service, Laura & the UNC community carry on his tradition of giving back.

This past week we welcomed the 7th graders from Southern Wells to the HOF! They had an awesome day, from learning about our state’s unrivaled 🏀 history to taking the last-second shot and testing their vertical jumping ability. It was a day full of true Hoosier Hysteria! 🙌

Honored to welcome retired photographer Robert Burke to the @HoopsHall ! 🏀📸 During his career with the Evansville Courier & Press, Robert captured iconic moments in Hoosier hoops history, including classic shots of Larry Bird at Springs Valley and Indiana State. Years ago, Robert generously donated these original prints to our museum, and today they’re displayed alongside Larry’s high school jersey. One was even used as the reference for Bird’s official HOF inductee sketch!

Today, the @HoopsHall joins fans across the state in wishing Bobby Plump a very Happy 90th Birthday! Inducted into the HOF in 1981, Bobby’s place in Indiana basketball history was forever cemented on March 20, 1954, when his famous last second jumper secured a state championship for Milan HS, a moment that captured the heart of the nation and came to define the true spirit of Hoosier Hysteria. Beyond his iconic high school career, Bobby’s dedication to Indiana’s basketball heritage has left an indelible mark on our sport’s community. Please join us in celebrating a true legend and honoring a lifetime of unforgettable contributions to Indiana basketball! 🏀

Recently, we had the honor of welcoming Scott and Janice Montross, parents of 2023 Inductee Eric Montross. 🏀 Eric’s basketball journey stands as one of the most remarkable in Indiana history. At Lawrence North, he won a State Championship, earned State Finals MVP, and was named an Indiana All-Star, McDonald's All-American, and National Player of the Year. He carried that momentum to UNC, leading the Tar Heels to an NCAA National Championship as an All-American. After a eight-year NBA career and a lifetime of inspiring others, Eric sadly passed away in 2023. His memory shines bright in our Hall of Fame, where he proudly shares space with his grandfather, John Townsend, a 1972 Inductee. Thank you, Scott and Janice, for visiting! It was such a joy to have you!✨

What a joy it was for our Director, Matt Martin, to help celebrate the birthday of 2017 HOF Inductee Bill Hampton! 🎂 Hampton was a starter for the legendary 1955 Crispus Attucks state championship team, which finished 31-1. His stellar HS career earned him All-Sectional, All-Regional, and All-State honors in 1955. During the festivities, Bill also officially released his brand-new memoir, Guarded!
