Judi Dench says it was Daniel Craig’s idea to kill off M in “Skyfall”:
“Ever since ‘GoldenEye’ ... I’d been begging them to let me out from behind my desk. Well, they did finally let me out from behind my desk... and they shot me. [Laughs.] Apparently, it was Daniel’s idea to have me killed. But first I had to suffer the indignity of being sacked by Ralph Fiennes. Arsehole.
It was reported in the press that I’d cried when they told me I was being replaced. Of course I didn’t cry. Why on earth would I cry after twenty glorious years and eight Bond films — which, by the way, is one more than Roger Moore, the longest-running 007 to date.”

John Goodman says "it hurt" when critics hated "Digger" and "it kinda killed us before we even opened."
“[The headlines like]: ‘This will only make $5.’ It was good reason for people to avoid it. I am proud of it. I had a ball doing it. It was a good six months out of my life. It is a huge swing. It’s going to be around for a long time... Unfortunately, I have to say that [I do care what critics think]. I have to be very honest. I used to be less so. Maybe I am getting old and pathetic and it’s like, ‘Don’t hit me again!’ I put so much into this film and here you go. I am over it now. I am proud I did it... everything I have done for the Coen Brothers flopped initially… so who cares, man? I still have people coming up to me in the streets asking me about ‘Barton Fink’ and ‘Big Lebowski.'” (via Happy Sad Confused)

“Star Trek” star Gates McFadden pays tribute to Patrick Stewart, praising his performance as Jean-Luc Picard for giving people hope around the world:
“We want to believe in our leaders. Society suffers when we do not. If we fear retribution and feel there is no choice but to live in blind obedience to those in power, we lose our way. We lose belief in our institutions. Good leaders are those who urge us to step up and demand justice and truth. They spark our imaginations with their visions of a better future. They educate us. Without a belief in the basic goodness of our leaders, we lose faith in ourselves and our collective future. Our standards and principles take a dive.
A leader is also great when they understand sacrifice and responsibility. This is why, I believe, people tune into ‘Star Trek’ or listen to Shakespeare, music or art of any kind. We are searching for hope and elevation from the daily numbness or despair. A desire to do good in the world works better with both kindness and focus — and it works better when we are surrounded by art and invention that lifts us. Jean-Luc Picard embodied that ideal. Patrick’s death means the loss of Picard, which for some hurts even more than the loss of Patrick Stewart. Jean-Luc gave us hope.”

Reminder, The Galactic Empire were the bad guys. They literally wanted to genocide all other races besides human. The Galactic Empire was explicitly human-supremacist, discriminated against nonhuman species, enslaved entire populations, and committed genocide.
The Empire was intentionally depicted using imagery and institutions associated with historical authoritarian regimes, while the Rebellion brought together humans, aliens, and droids against a government that enforced obedience through fear.

Patrick Stewart took a different approach to the Ice Bucket Challenge. Instead of pouring ice water over himself, he quietly wrote a cheque, poured himself a drink over ice and raised a glass. Even his charity work came with impeccable style.
RIP, Sir Patrick Stewart. 🕊️

Walter Koenig has passed away.
Everyone got to show their comedy chops in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, and Chekov asking for directions to the "Nuclear Wessels" and the interrogation scene are real highlights.
Koenig often cited The Voyage Home as his favourite Trek film.
