Study (N=200 courses) tested 3 interventions to reduce gender bias in student evals, but none were effective. "Women who were tough graders or taught large classes received more criticism than men with the same grading style or class size." @kimelsesser

📄 Congrats to HBL’s Susana Cruz Garcia on her new publication in @FrontPsychol looking at the impact of food cravings and weight suppression on binge eating frequency. frontiersin.org/journals/psy…
Weight suppression alone did not consistently cross-sectionally predict eating disorder symptoms when controlling for the effects of cravings.
Always a pleasure to work with @EDRProgram and present our call for reforms to the way we train eating disorders researchers to facilitate quality early career training opportunities, access to funding and, ultimately, the development of more effective treatments. #edrs2024
📄Congrats to HBL grad @court_breiner whose stage II report on the results of a randomized pilot trial evaluating a brief parent-training program for ARFID was just published in @IntJEatDisord! @kenzielmiller onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
Fantastic talk on clinicians’ perceptions of child and adolescent social media use by @sarah_domoff! @albanypsych at #ICBA2024

There are so many incredible resources put together by RAs, grad students, and organizations like @psychinout and @NextGenPsych that got me through the nerve wracking but rewarding post-bacc job search this time last year. I compiled a list of these resources along with some resume + cover letter + interview tips drawn from my CareerLab days. docs.google.com/document/d/1…

We live in a world which assumes that women's ideas are there for the taking. This data shows both men and women are more likely to take credit for women's ideas than for men's. @KieranSnyder

In 2022-23, there was a ~$20,000 gender pay gap among faculty across all U.S. academic institutions and ranks. Disparities are significant at all career stages, but most pronounced at the full professor rank. chronicle.com/article/explor…

As we kick off Black Maternal Health Week, it is important to remember that Black women are 3x likely to die from pregnancy-related complications that are preventable, than their White counterparts.
We must advocate for equitable access to quality prenatal care, culturally-competent support, and systems that prioritizes the well-being of Black mothers and their babies.
Together, we can strive for a future where every woman receives the care and respect she deserves.

Very honored to have our research recognized in this way! None of it would be possible without supportive mentors and sponsors, generous collaborators, and, most importantly, absolutely incredible graduate students who make the work meaningful and fun! albany.edu/news-center/news/…

Study (N=163) finds women professors did 75% of internal service work; men 25%. Women viewed it as compliance or an investment; men dodged with evasiveness or used barter. Yet men did 50% of external service work. @mikmeyer
