Peter Schmeichel on Jason Wilcox:
“We have people who openly, in their playing careers, stated that they hated Manchester United. Playing for clubs they were enemies of Manchester United. With very little experience, all of a sudden, they're in decision-making jobs at Manchester United.
I just don't understand why he's there. I mean, when you played for Leeds, you know, you're supposed to hate Man United. And of course, he hated Man United.”

Under Carrick, Boro scored 200 goals in the Championship, ranking 1st in the league during that period for total goals, shots taken, and expected goals (xG). Got his star players sold/not replaced. Try harder.
This is how United have been doing their transfer business too.
“We want Lewis Hall but can’t afford him”
“So, move onto a cheaper option?”
“Nah, just leave it…”
🚨 JUST IN: Well-informed sources claim that the cost associated with sacking Michael Carrick and hiring a replacement played a role in the decision to keep him rather than replace him.
For example, a multi-million-pound payoff would have had to be made to Newcastle for Eddie Howe, and his salary, along with that of his usual assistant, Jason Tindall, is not insignificant in the club's eyes.

“We need to unite across the common cause!”
“YESSSS… What’s the common cause?”
“To win matches!”
“I thought that’s what we’ve been trying to do for the last 10 weeks…”
🚨 NEW: Sources say Carrick held a meeting of players and staff — not directors — to clear the air at Carrington and attempt to get people on the same page. The idea was to galvanise everyone to the common cause of winning matches, whatever grievances they might have.
The summit was said to be productive, but of course the proof will be seen on the pitch at Chelsea on Saturday.

There is a consideration that the international break in less than a fortnight’s time would allow any new head coach the chance to bed in better than now [@TheAthleticFC]

Michael Carrick and Bruno Fernandes have met face-to-face yesterday to clear the air, with both men vowing to focus on turning #mufc’s season around [@RobDorsettSky, @DanyalHKhan]
These guys hounded out one of the best up and coming managers in Europe because he told the La Carrington graduates to be patient and work harder.
A year later, when the club is in clear crisis, they vouch for British manager who is a nobody.
Hypocrites.
*Takes a deep breath and ducks for cover*
Eddie Howe would be a brilliant appointment for Manchester United. Here is why #mufc manchestereveningnews.co.uk/…

🚨 Barcelona have been fined €602 following Atlético Madrid's complaint to the RFEF regarding how the Julián Alvarez saga was handled.
The fine was imposed under Article 133 as failure to comply with orders, instructions, agreements, or regulatory obligations.
❗️ Barcelona plan to appeal, reports @elchiringuitotv.

The worst decision Wilcox and Berrada made was sacking Amorim.
The entire media agenda against him and his system was ridiculous, as if changing the formation would magically fix everything.
Our own fanbase demanding quick fixes played right into it and helped create the situation that led to that press conference.
A culture was finally starting to change.
Players who weren’t good enough or didn’t have the right attitude were being pushed out.
I genuinely believe we’d be in a much better position today if we’d stuck with him.
Instead, it feels like we’re back to square one again, with no clear direction and very little to get excited about for the future.
This logic is batshit crazy

I agree with the sentiment but think this is the wrong coach to do it with.
If you’re going to do this, do it with a ruthless project manager who has history for it or a proven winner with a track record of eventual success.

One source close to #mufc feels it is inevitable that Jason Wilcox will eventually lose his job if a third managerial change in as many seasons is made.
A senior figure in the game told the BBC that both Wilcox and Berrada’s jobs at United may be vulnerable, suggesting that Sir Jim Ratcliffe could be considering a wider overhaul of senior staff [@sistoney67, @SamiMokbel_BBC]

Mate we are waiting until our top 6 options are all not available and we are going for our 7th choice, just like the transfer window 😂 #bestinclass
Antonio Conte, sat on his throne of winners medals, reading that Sir Jim doesn’t think he’s better than Michael “Midtable at Middlesbrough” Carrick…
