Big news for testosterone and men’s health.
A few nights ago, just as I sat down to dinner with my wife and friends, I received a text from a colleague: the FDA had updated the labeling language for testosterone products.
While everyone else was talking about vacations, I had a quiet moment to myself. I started working with testosterone in 1988. For decades I was told I was “causing prostate cancer,” “doing the devil’s work,” and was openly mocked for suggesting testosterone might not be the villain we’d been taught it was.
This week, the FDA took a major step toward correcting the record.
Here are the three key label changes:
1. The implication that testosterone therapy increases prostate cancer risk has been taken out. The evidence simply has not supported that fear.
2. Language suggesting testosterone worsens urinary symptoms from benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) has been removed.
3. Previous cautions that there was “insufficient evidence” for men with age-related hypogonadism have been updated in light of multiple large studies demonstrating both efficacy and safety.
Practically, this means:
◆ Labels now align much more closely with the data and with professional guidelines.
◆ Clinicians who rely on product information will see fewer outdated, fear-based cautions.
◆ Fewer unnecessary hurdles for appropriately selected men to receive treatment.
To the @FDA : thank you. Change inside large institutions is hard. This was a courageous and overdue course correction.
If you’d like a deeper dive into what this means for practice, I’ll be discussing it in detail with @drbrandon on our podcast, The Sex Doctors, at thesexdoctorspodcast.com

Men die younger, seek less preventive care, and face higher rates of suicide, chronic disease, injuries, and cardiovascular deaths, yet the U.S. has no federal Office of Men’s Health. At #AUASummit26, leaders from AUA and SMSNA emphasized why the U.S. must follow suit by creating a federal Office of Men’s Health, a long‑overdue step that could reduce suicide, chronic disease, and early mortality in American men.

Nice to see studies now confirming what we’ve known, many compliance protocols are neither effective nor efficient. Latest gems: if your partner ends up doing the case, the original consent is void and must be redone. And just before a cysto: “Would you like to use the restroom?”
New study shows compliance professionals often misunderstand the requirements they make physicians comply with—to the detriment of patient care. spr.ly/60184g4P8
