Need more tools to bind all these feature together: teapawt.org/Lambda_Coder/status/17…
What happens when you combine Emacs with gaming? You get an environment in which any panel can display any visualization for any data type. And if it's not there, you just develop it right there, live. Coded support for multiple viewports as it draws 60fps :) #gamedev

Simple: latency vs bandwidth Same reason why it goes much faster to copy one 20Gb file than 20,000 1kb files Also why perforce takes forever even with a fast network, and why games ship large data archive files: high performance avoids the usual OS abstractions for their own 1s
When you download SQLite to embed in a C project, you don’t need CMake, complicated build systems, or dozens of dependencies. SQLite’s developers combine over 100 internal source files into one giant file called sqlite3.c. Drop sqlite3.c and sqlite3.h into your project, compile them alongside your code, and you’ve got a complete ACID relational database inside your application. No database server. No dependency tree. SQLite even reports a 5–10% performance improvement from this single-file approach because the compiler can optimize across the entire library. Every library author should study how SQLite ships software.

Also batching works best with one large compile unit than many which see the same definitions in as many duplicates Computers run much, much, much faster than we came to expect from the avg app

The power of a new tech gets measured by its memes.

Excellence comes in many forms, many of which go unrecognized until they yield results because they go in a different direction without a shared language just yet. Fighting passivity and low standards seems to work best by example: being active with high standards until it works
I’m all for championing excellence over mediocrity, but it is a mistake to imply that academic achievement is the only measure of it. Jocks and prom queens aren’t the antithesis of merit and striving, and in some ways, their arenas are more “real” than academic curriculums. Fight passivity and low standards!

First time I saw this it blew my mind so much I recreated it in Unity3D by trying to find which formulas positions everything so it works out exactly like this, lots of fun!

Leaving stuff to the experts = how to stall an entire field It can signal gatekeeper ego more than simple concepts

I remade my website: sebastianaaltonen.com Includes full publication list with links to slides/talks, github projects and my blog. SquareSpace is gone. It’s a custom static page generator now. Faster and better.

Debugged an issue in a "it shouldn't happen" language The kind of bug one uses a high level language to avoid AI called it "A lateral move in footgun technology. 😂"

I was wondering why I can watch some movies in the background while working, while others distract me. Like Star Wars, I watch them often. Then I heard this: "In most movies, the story is carried by the dialogue — in Star Wars films, the music carries the story." - George Lucas

Just hit a milestone I expected to hit much sooner. Reminded of: "Hofstadter's law: It always takes longer than you expect, even when you take into account Hofstadter's law."

This amazing! I wish group theorist (and creator of the finite automata 'game of life'), John Conway were still here to see this: cfsg.axiommath.ai/. 43M lines of Lean proof.
