Long term substitute teacher gets caught grooming one of her students. An administrators at Horizon Academy at Marion Oaks contacted the Marion County Sheriff’s Office after students reported seeing a 14-year-old male student with his head resting in the lap of 24-year-old long-term substitute teacher Dianely Torres while she stroked his hair during class. When questioned by investigators and administrators, the teen initially deflected, denying anything was amiss. However, corroborated witness reports and a forensic examination of digital devices revealed a deeply coordinated, secret relationship conducted via Discord. ​The digital trail showed Torres systematically grooming the student outside the classroom. According to investigative reports, Torres routinely picked up the minor in her mother’s red SUV early in the morning, driving him to secluded areas and local trailheads where physical encounters took place. During police interrogation, Torres attempted to downplay the interaction as playful banter before eventually admitting to multiple sexual acts, though she insisted full intercourse had not occurred. A subsequent specialized forensic interview with the victim at Kimberly’s Center for Child Protection painted a far more severe picture, with the minor disclosing repeated instances of sexual battery. Torres was arrested and booked into Marion County Jail on 14 felony counts, including 9 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and 5 counts of transmission of material harmful to minors. Following further disclosures from the forensic interview, prosecutors tacked on 2 counts of sexual battery and 1 count of lewd and lascivious molestation. ​ Torres entered a written plea of not guilty. Given the severity of the charges and the risk to the public, she remains remanded at the Marion County Jail with no bond as the criminal docket proceeds toward trial. ​This case is still ongoing through the judicial system.
