There should be a teacher on every school boardβ¦
and at every table where education decisions are made.
Because right now, weβre making policies for classrooms
without the people who actually live in them.
You wouldnβt design a hospital system without doctors.
You wouldnβt build a plane without pilots.
But in educationβ¦
we leave teachers out of the room

2018β¦More teachers resigned than any other year prior
2019β¦A new record # of resignations
2020β¦That # SURPASSED.
2021β¦AGAIN
2022β¦AGAIN
2023β¦Broke ALL previous records
Questions: What was learned?
Answer: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
The career is simply no longer sustainable

The number of instructional days that are permanently lost due to field trips, college fairs, sporting events, etc is way too high. Extracurricular activities that encroach on the academic calendar and bell schedule are no longer extracurricular. It turns school into summer camp.

One of the worst things we did to education was make digital gradebooks available to students 24/7 π
Istg a student emails me every time their grade drops even half a percent and Iβm like βCan you chill out?!β

PSA: π£
We should spend more time and energy retaining teachers than on recruiting teachers.

The biggest lie in education is that itβs possible for teachers to differentiate instruction to a classroom full of kids.

Dear secondary educators,
Literacy is essential in every subject. Itβs not just an βELAβ thing.
That is all.

Veteran teachers are the backbone of education. Theyβve endured all the reasons some teachers leave the field. They also survived the latest programs, initiatives, & testing. They have much wisdom, experience & expertise if leaders are willing to listen. Value & appreciate them!
