TTC service on Dufferin and Bathurst consistently ranks among the slowest in the city. We are speaking up today with @ttcriders asking City Council to speed up the Dufferin bus & Bathurst streetcar/bus with priority lanes up to Eglinton. loom.ly/7jnxZmY

Who should get priority? A few cars or 100s of transit riders?

The Elizabeth Line this year moved more people than the 18 lanes of the 401 freeway, the widest in North America.
Traffic is simply a geometry problem, and adding one more lane won't fix it.

When we say transit riders won't hand over their cards and phones to strangers, it's not a guess.
It's been happening ⤵️

"Does the #TTC really expect transit riders to hand over their credit and debit cards to strangers claiming to be fare inspectors?"

This video was filmed during Rush hour in Late October (temperature 8C). Most people who watch it would say it seems like there are more cars than bikes. There are actually exactly 15 bikes and 15 cars, despite bikes being allocated half the space.

I know stats don't really matter in this bike lane rhetoric from the Ontario government. However, in many places in Toronto, bike commute share is greater than 20% and in some tracts along Bloor it is above 30%. Also, in 2019, 48% of households had someone who biked for errands.

110 km speed limit on all 100 series highways to help people get home to their families?
I'd rather my family arrive late than never.
If your son is driving at 120 kph he's 2X as likely to die in a crash than at 100 kph. If he's going 130 kph, you're 3X as likely to die.

Some people attribute congestion to cycle lanes.
However, I have another theory:
in 1970, there were 200 million cars worldwide
in 1990, there were 500 million cars worldwide
in 2023, there were 1.47 billion cars worldwide

I heard that there are still politicians that are proposing to build more roads to solve congestion.
So I visited our library to check it out:

There are 104km of dedicated transit lanes in Toronto, out of 5,600km of roads, so only 1.86%, despite 2.5M taking the TTC everyday. Keep that in mind when you hear someone claiming that drivers aren't being treated fairly.

'Finally, finally, renewable energy, mostly from the sun and wind, seems to be reaching some sort of take-off point. By some calculations, we’re now putting up a nuclear plant’s worth of solar panels every day. In California, there are now enough solar farms and wind turbines that day after day this spring and summer they supplied more than 100% of the state’s electric needs for long stretches; there are now enough batteries on the grid that they become the biggest source of power after dark. In China it looks as if carbon emissions may have peaked – they’re six years ahead of schedule on the effort to build out renewables.'
