It is fair to say that there is an intellectual cinema that is on said level, but rarely to they gain the exposure we allot to literature of that stature.

I love cinema, but I wouldn’t say it’s on the same intellectual level as literature. I think we’ve been pretending it is for maybe a century, to make ourselves feel better about the latter’s decline.
