The HuffPost union is still raising money for our talented colleagues affected by the latest round of job cuts.
If you can donate, please do. If you can’t, sharing this helps too! ❤️
Solidarity forever. ✊

One thing I cherished during my time at HuffPost was the opportunity to serve on the @HuffPostUnion contract team.
In January, after months of negotiation (and a strike pledge signed by 100% of our ~70-member union) we secured a fair deal – including dignified layoff rules! ✊

Today was my last day at HuffPost. Like many others, I was hit by mass layoffs at BuzzFeed. I've done my best to hold power to account and tell complex stories with care, and I'm going to keep doing that. So please keep sending me tips!

Well, after almost 8 years, today is my last day at HuffPost. I was laid off as part of the 33% cuts at BuzzFeed. The entire video team at HuffPost has also been eliminated. Here’s to the future!

Today is officially my last day at HuffPost. So thankful for my union, this would be so much scarier without them 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Just before layoffs,@BuzzFeed reversed its policy of paying out unused PTO to laid off employees. Because
@HuffPostUnion codified the previous policy, union members will be paid out. I urge BuzzFeed management to pay non-union employees for the PTO they earned

I am forever grateful to my colleagues, who made working here a dream job. And I am especially grateful and proud to have been a part of
@HuffPostUnion and @WGAEast. Together, we fought off cuts to severance and PTO payout, which has provided me with so much relief

This is my last story for HuffPost, but I’m looking forward to continuing to report on the criminal legal system. You can reach me at [email protected] or on Signal at jessicaschulberg.01 xitter.cf/jessicaschulb/status/2…
In 2023, Rhonda Jewell accidentally left 10-month-old Ariya in a hot car, resulting in the baby's death. Rhonda was acquitted of manslaughter — which would have required a finding of culpable negligence — but convicted of third-degree felony murder huffpost.com/entry/florida-h…

Last year, my work on Tremane Wood’s case was cited by his lawyers and family as a key part of the governor’s last-minute decision to issue a rare clemency grant. BuzzFeed promoted it in a press release: buzzfeed.com/buzzfeedpress/h…

Today is my last day at HuffPost. After 11 years, I was laid off as part of the 33% cuts at BuzzFeed. My team, the National desk, was cut from 7 reporters to 3, after being cut from 14 to 7 just over a year ago

The Pulitzer Prize winning WaPo story on hot car deaths by @geneweingarten was assigned reading for me when I got my first journalism job. I'm so grateful to him for talking with me about how little has changed since he wrote it in 2009 washingtonpost.com/lifestyle…

Rhonda appealed her conviction and the decision could come down any day. The outcome will be precedent-setting on one of the most fundamental elements of the U.S. legal system: the idea that people cannot be held criminally responsible for something they did not know they did

I wrote about how Rhonda’s case exemplifies the ways in which the felony murder doctrine can be used to punish tragic accidents as acts of murder, and how the focus on individual punishment over systemic fixes only puts more kids at risk
