All the problems of East Africa started in 1980 when NRA rebels captured Kampala, dictatorship and human rights violations spread to Rwanda simply then to TZ & now Kenya joined. Can you imagine abductions torture and extrajudicial killings are considered normal in the region π?

Under Article 80 of Ugandaβs Constitution, standing for Member of Parliament requires an Advanced Level certificate or its equivalent. Yet, following the January 2026 general elections, NRM candidates with history of lacking advanced secondary education were cleared by the Electoral Commission and declared winners.
βHas the Electoral Commission quietly set a new rule that primary education is sufficient? Or does this privilege apply strictly to ruling-party elites backed by state authority? Real winners like David Lewis Rubongoya and Theodore Ssekikubo were defeated unfairly despite public knowledge of the true outcomes.
βUgandan youth spend years working hard to earn academic papers, yet the law is bent for those in power. When aggrieved victims present overwhelming evidence to the courts of law, petitions are dragged out instead of immediately disqualifying unfit candidates.
βIf academic standards and ballot integrity no longer apply equally, democracy is compromised. Share this post, tag the Electoral Commission, and demand equal enforcement of our constitutional laws! πΊπ¬π

When institutions are weakened, accountability disappears, corruption thrives, and citizens are treated as subjects rather than the owners of their country.

His parents named Mbuuse Yokana, the world knew him as Kapere Lufotose and his friends called him Taata Twamp.
He was a friend to many, a beautiful soul whose presence touched lives, and I have no doubt that he will be dearly missed.
Iβm one of the many who were fortunate enough to experience his friendship. He was a man who refused to be defined by his appearance, he let his sincerity, character and heart speak for him. And what a beautiful heart he had! What an interesting character!
A loving husband who made his wife proud, a gifted artist who understood the power of his voice and chose to use it for the good of his country. Kapere lived a life of purpose, serving his country in the best way he knew how. He was a patriot, a gentleman, and a man whose infectious humour could light up even the saddest of moments.
It is painful to accept that we will no longer have you amongst us to share those moments with you, my brother.
But perhaps that is the price we pay for having known someone whose presence meant so much.
To Maama Twamp and the children, may God give you strength and comfort in the days ahead. I pray that the beautiful memories you shared with him will become a source of strength whenever the pain of his absence becomes unbearable. You will not walk this difficult journey alone.
Rest peacefully, my man. Your contribution will not be forgotten, and your spirit will live on in the lives you touched, including myself.

A few moments back, I just received the most devastating news regarding the untimely passing of our brother, dear friend and comrade Yokana Mbuuse fondly called Kapere Lufotose. A man who made every dark moment light. A man who loved his country and wished it well! A loss so difficult to take in.

We were at the Atlantic Council headquarters in Washington, DC, yesterday, to participate in the very first Global Leadership Forum. This forum gathers leaders from across the world to speak on the challenges they face in their work.
During my session, I focused on the deteriorating state of human rights and democracy in Uganda. I also shared thoughts on how global partners -- especially the United States -- are contributing to this state of affairs, and what they need to do different.

Nine months after Ugandaβs presidential election, the Electoral Commission has published a reportβbut the detailed polling-station results and DR forms needed to independently verify Museveniβs victory remain conspicuously absent from its website.
The @_AfricanUnion questioned the transparency of the process. @amnesty documented election-related killings. @Reuters reported @mkainerugaba boasting that 30 opposition supporters had been killed.
Now the CDF is chest-thumping about defeating the main opposition party, @NUP_Ug.
An election is not validated by military force, intimidation or victory declarations. Ugandans deserve the evidence, not another report.

Denied bail to attend to his sick wife.
Denied bail to bury his wife when she passed.
His Election Petition dismissed.
How much must one man endure for daring to disagree with a regime?
Stay strong, brother. One day, everything will be alright.
