Update: Our campaign offered to reschedule the debate for Monday the 7th, but so far, we’ve heard no confirmation from Liccardo’s team. Meanwhile, Sam is making a speedy recovery and is promoting events on Saturday. Voters deserve to know why he’s avoiding an open discussion on the issues that matter most.

Disappointed the voters will not be able to watch the debate tonight — I believe it is important for the constituents of Congressional District 16 to hear from us directly.
We have offered to reschedule for next Monday, October 7th. We look forward to hearing back from the Liccardo campaign and wish him well.
Knocking on doors across our community and participating in nearly 100 meet-and-greets and several debates has been the best part of campaigning, but it’s taken its toll on my vocal cords. I’ve unfortunately lost my voice, and had to cancel three meet-and-greets yesterday, and pull out of a scheduled debate with NBC this evening. We’re cancelling other events until my voice recovers. My doctor has given me medication to help with the laryngitis, and I hope to be back out there in a few days. My team is working hard to find another time for this important forum — voters deserve to hear what the candidates have to say. NBC tells us that if the Low campaign agrees to another time, we can reschedule, and I fully expect we will — stay tuned.

If a recount in the CD16 race leads to a change in the election result, will the person who requested the recount be refunded? The law explicitly states that refunds are not permitted in this unique situation where there is a tie and both tied candidates are already advancing. Issuing a refund could be an illegal gift of public funds.

Here’s the letter requesting the CD16 recount. Sam Liccardo is hiding behind his former staffer & donor who filed the request “on my behalf.” I have not called for a recount & I oppose one. Stating that it is on my behalf is disingenuous. We still don't know who is paying for it.
