Glad to see our paper published in the European Heart Journal: Cardiovascular Imaging @ESC_Journals! In 5,675 Cardiac MRI studies, asymmetrical septal hypertrophy (ASH) was present in 61% of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) patients, but also 37% of ATTR amyloidosis, 26% of aortic stenosis and 23% of AL amyloidosis. After accounting for age, sex & body size, however, excess asymmetry remained uniquely associated with HCM (ΔSLR +0.27). doi.org/10.1093/ehjci/jeag20…

Asymmetric septal hypertrophy (ASH) is often viewed as a hallmark of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. This study shows that while ASH (wall thickness ≥15 mm; septal/lateral ratio ≥1.3) is more common in HCM, it is not specific and is prevalent across diverse cardiac conditions. doi.org/10.1093/ehjci/jeag20…

Introducing the percutaneous aorto-coronary bypass graft. The VECTOR procedure revascularizes the left main coronary artery using retrograde and antegrade steps: a retrograde wire exits the left main (distal graft), an electrosurgical wire exits the aortic root (proximal graft), a guidewire rail is created, and a stent graft is delivered from the aorta to the left main. Fixed diagnostic criteria are failing women. A 2025 study shows a 15mm LVH threshold for HCM has a significant sex skew (89% male). Adjusting for age, sex & body size boosts accuracy, and nearly doubles female representation in diagnosis. sciencedirect.com/science/ar… #CardioTwitter
