From food assistance to self-reliance 🌱
In Kyangwali Settlement, 140 acres allocated by @OPMUganda now host 20 refugee farmer groups (400 members) growing beans, maize & cassava through block farming, supported by our partner @HungerFightersU.
@WFP is also supporting the groups to establish fish ponds to diversify diets, boost nutrition, and help refugee households build livelihood resilience.

Despite the recent drought, SRM crop farming at Malembo-Rwenyawawa farmland in Kyangwali continues to show encouraging progress. 🌱 Participants are actively weeding crops and applying pest control measures to protect their crops and boost productivity. #SRM #Agriculture
Delphine, is a NutriCash participant in #Kyangwali Refugee Settlement. Since enrolling in March 2026, and establishing her backyard garden after 2 months, it provides fresh vegetables 3 times a week, improving her family’s diet.

Last week, together with @OPMUganda, we distributed food to over 2,600 newly arrived refugees in Kyangwali Refugee Settlement. 🤝
Working alongside @WFP, @UNHCRuganda, @NRC_Norway, @medicalteams & @HungerFightersU, we provided essential food items like posho, beans, sugar, cooking oil and salt, plus specialized nutritious food for malnourished children, breastfeeding mothers, people on medication, older persons & other vulnerable groups.
Together, we're ensuring newly arrived refugees receive the support they need with dignity and hope.
After 3 years of training in mindset change, DFI, and livelihoods, Cohort I refugee and host community groups received transitional cash support from HFU & CRDB under WFP’s Self Reliance Model.40% for nutritious food, 30% for HHs IGAs & savings, and 30% to scale group enterprises
