Public institutions aren't chasing trends or narratives.
They're looking for secure infrastructure to upgrade the foundations of trust.
Dr. Vevera from @ICIBucharest explains why national research bodies must be directly involved in testing and shaping blockchain technology.

From governments to innovators, #DISB2025 opened a dialogue on Romania’s digital future.
AI regulation, global cyber cooperation and sustainability were at the core of every debate.

.@ICIBucharest is continuously buiding.
In the period of madness in web3, and in the disturbing attacks left and right, even worse than on politics, we need to take back a few steps and think differently. Think positively.
The verse of the day hit hard today. Especially after 2 days of frenzy and reading some of the negative comments, when nothing is good enough. I know price growing resolves all the problems.
But let’s get to the noble and right things. @ICIBucharest built the First institutional NFT marketplace, issues digital diplomas with @itheum, creates digital vaults for secure documents. 📃
And in the NFTs they managed to get AgerPress, Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee as well. And not only.
Go and read the blogpost.
Blockchain is revolutionary.
Blockchain is changing the world.
Let’s BUIDL more!
For more than half a century, Romania’s National Institute for Research and Development in Informatics — better known as @ICIBucharest — has been at the forefront of the country’s digital transformation.
Founded in 1970, it has evolved from an academic and government research hub into a self-funded institution working across cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and now blockchain.
At the helm is Dr. Adrian-Victor Vevera, a former national security adviser who has helped steer ICI into uncharted territory: pioneering Europe’s first institutional NFT marketplace, bringing cultural archives onchain, and forging partnerships with museums, libraries and even the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee.
In a wide-ranging conversation, Dr. Vevera explains why blockchain is more than cryptocurrency, how ICI navigated regulatory hurdles, and why the institute chose MultiversX as the backbone for its projects.
