President @HassanSMohamud has officially signed the new Constitution after its approval by both Houses of the Federal Parliament (@AqalkaSare and @Golaha_shac_JFS) paving the way for stronger institutions and democratic governance.

The Chairperson of @ICRICSomalia , @AvvBurhanAdan , sent an official letter to the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court / Chairman of the High Judicial Council of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E @Bashe_Ahmed , regarding the urgent constitutional implementation of necessary measures to reform and establish the Judiciary of the capital of the Federal Republic of Somalia, in accordance with the provisions of Articles 63, 129, and 132 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia, to align it with the Constitution as provided for in Article 191, Paragraph 2. #Somalia #constitution #Judiciary #Mogadishu

PRESS RELEASE As the Independent Constitutional Review and Implementation Commission @ICRICSomalia is responsible for implementing the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Somalia (FRS), as stated in Chapter 15 of the Constitution of the FRS (2026), the Chairperson of the Commission, @AvvBurhanAdan, has issued this press release on the following matters concerning the implementation of Articles 81(1)(f) and 117(3)(a) of the Constitution of the FRS: 1. The six (6) month period mandated by the Constitution to align administrative matters with the adopted Constitution will end on October 14, 2026. This period began on the date the Constitution came into force, which was April 14, 2026. 2. On October 14, 2026, Article 81, Paragraph 1, sub-paragraph (f) and Article 117, Paragraph 3(a) of the Constitution will come into effect. These articles regulate the separation between Members of Parliament (MPs) and Ministers, meaning that a Minister who is an MP will lose membership of the Council of Ministers. Likewise, an MP loses the parliamentary seat'' by accept another government post. 3. The implementation of the above provisions is a constitutional duty. Article 4 of the Constitution of the FRS stipulates that the Constitution, subject to Islamic Sharia, is the supreme law of the country,and it is mandatory for all state institutions to abide by and execute it. Official Event — Launch/Unveiling of Printed Copies of the Federal Constitution of Somalia The launch event for the distribution of printed copies of the Constitution was attended by the Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives, the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate, ICRIC Chairperson @AvvBurhanAdan and members of the Commission, the Secretary and members of the @OC_Constitution , as well as representatives from the @MojSomalia , led by the Minister of State and the Secretary-General of the Ministry. This initiative provides Somali citizens with the opportunity to receive copies of the Constitution, which will empower Somali institutions to implement its provisions effectively.
