Wonderful day at Bunclody for the Irish Golf Writers won by Vincent Hogan. The Jeff Howes design was always very strong but the maturity & conditioning of the course in its relatively short history is a thing to behold and it’s in good hands with new owner Tom Byrne (in picture).

Englishman Jack Whaley said he's feeling motivated to make the Walker Cup team after hearing most of the captain's selections on the GB&I team have already heard that they've gotten spots for Lahinch. He didn't receive that text message. "I know a lot of guys that have kind of been probably told that they're probably going to get in and their spots are finalized, but ... Honestly, I have not received a text message or email from anyone. I may need to prove a point, but if they don't see that I'm worthy of being in the Walker Cup, it's the selectors' choice. But I'm here to prove it "I think coming in and then playing the Western and just missed out on the sweet 16 of western and then obviously quarterfinals in the U.S. Am, it definitely puts the eyes back on me. But it's down to the selectors. I'm not here to say I should be in the Walker Cup. I feel like I should be, but we'll see."

Great day out at a magnificent @IslandGolfClub for the Mary McKenna Trophy, our annual championship. Mary McKenna herself came along and the course was a fantastic test. The new champion is Brian Flanagan with 35pts. Humphrey Kelleher was a great host. Thanks to all.

It was lovely to be able to make a little presentation to Vanessa O’Brien on behalf of the IGWA to thank her for her help as she departs for new challenges after 31 years with the @DPWorldTour. Hope to see Vanessa return to help her former colleagues at @TheAdareManor in 2027.

Great picture, Kevin.
Ladies and gentlemen, I am not someone who brags… but there’s only ever one first time to have your photograph appear on the front cover of a national newspaper. This is today’s.@irishexaminer Shot of @CountySligoGC

Regrettably, we have had to cancel tomorrow’s Irish Golf Writers’ Awards lunch, sponsored by @anantaradublin and @AIGIreland due to the red weather warnings nationwide. Hopefully we will see the all our 2024 and 2025 winners at the end of this season.

Thanks Greg, really appreciate the kind words 🤝
Just to acknowledge the great work that @amateur_info (Garry Murphy) does to keep the amateur golf game in focus all year. Just about all the Irish stars of the pro game had big amateur careers before they were famous so this is where the seeds are sewn & it’s a vital resource.👏
