Our ILM community offers its heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of Patrick Stewart, as well as to the galaxy of fans who admired him for his portrayal of Star Trek's Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Marvel's Professor Charles Xavier. At the end of 1987’s The Witches of Eastwick, Jack Nicholson’s Daryl Van Horne makes a final transformation into a small, almost cherub-like demonic character. ILM artists created a rod puppet to help bring it to life on screen.
We’re excited to share that ILM Senior Concept Artist Brett Northcutt has been recognized in the Live-Action Feature Film: Keyframe Art category for his incredible work on Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Grogu at the 2026 Concept Art Association Awards!
ILM sends its condolences to the family and loved ones of actor Walter Koenig, best known for portraying Pavel Chekov in the original Star Trek series and the first seven Star Trek films. ILM had the immense pleasure of working with Koenig on Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan for scenes involving the Ceti eels and the creation of an oversized 'Chekov ear.'
SVP, General Manager, and Head of ILM, Janet Lewin, was recognized with the VIEW Visionary Award at this year's VIEW Conference in Turin, Italy. “32 years ago, I walked through the doors of Industrial Light & Magic as a temporary employee in the purchasing department,” Lewin said. “Little did I know that a summer job would become a lifelong career, fueled by the same passion and sense of wonder that drives me today.” Congratulations, Janet!
